What did the 513 figure mean?
Air Wisconsin Airlines LLC’s January 30, 2025, WARN notice estimated that approximately 513 Wisconsin employees could be affected: 219 management or salaried employees and 294 represented employees. The notice said the company could not yet assess the extent of the reductions. At the time, it expected represented-employee reductions to be temporary and management or salaried reductions to be permanent, with changes potentially beginning around March 31. A WARN notice describes a planned or possible employment action; this figure should not be read as a verified count of people who ultimately lost their jobs. The notice also concerned possible impacts in Wisconsin, not a confirmed final tally across every later workforce action.
Why was Air Wisconsin reducing its workforce?
American Airlines gave notice on January 3, 2025, that it was terminating its capacity purchase agreement with Air Wisconsin, effective April 3. Under a capacity purchase agreement, an airline buys flying capacity from another carrier. The end of this agreement meant Air Wisconsin was transitioning away from that American partnership, prompting the workforce notice. The agreement ended on April 3, 2025.
What happened after the initial notice?
Harbor Diversified, Air Wisconsin’s parent company, later described further workforce actions in its 2026 filing. These figures provide later context, but should not be added mechanically to the original 513 estimate: the filings do not establish that the groups were entirely separate.

Did Air Wisconsin stop flying for American?
The capacity purchase agreement ended April 3, 2025. Separately, Harbor Diversified’s 2025 SEC filing reported that Air Wisconsin had no aircraft operating in regional airline service as of September 30, 2025. SEC filing

Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development says layoff response may include job-search workshops, job fairs, and referrals through the Wisconsin Job Center network. The available company filings and WARN notice do not establish Air Wisconsin’s complete employee count or the final employment status of every affected worker as of October 7, 2026. The clearest answer is therefore that 513 was the initial estimate of possible Wisconsin impacts—not a confirmed final count—and subsequent filings describe additional actions without resolving a single final total.
