How the Autumn BuyBack Bonus worked
During the promotion, Decathlon UK offered an extra 20% on top of its original BuyBack valuation for a bike traded in at a store. Bikes of any brand could be assessed, but this was not a guaranteed offer for every bike: Decathlon evaluated each one and could decline it. The bonus applied to the valuation if the bike was accepted. Decathlon UK’s announcement set out the offer terms.
What customers had to do
- Be a Decathlon member, get an online estimate and book a store appointment.
- Bring the bike to the store for an in-person evaluation.
- If Decathlon accepted it, receive a Decathlon gift card with the additional 20% included.
The proceeds were store credit, not cash. That distinction matters if you wanted money to spend anywhere, rather than credit toward a Decathlon purchase.
When the offer was available
Decathlon UK announced the promotion on 22 October 2025, and the stated offer period ended on 2 November 2025. T3 also reported the 20% bonus, in-store assessment, gift-card payout and expiry date in an article published on 16 October 2025; its page notes the story was machine-translated and post-human edited. T3’s report corroborates those points, while Decathlon’s announcement is the primary source for its own terms.

What happened to traded-in bikes
Decathlon said accepted pre-loved bikes were prepared for resale through its Second Life scheme. That describes the intended reuse route; it does not establish that every traded bike was ultimately resold.
The promotion was positioned for families whose children had outgrown a bike, people buying a child’s first bike, and customers clearing unused equipment. The gift-card credit could contribute toward a Decathlon purchase, but the offer itself did not guarantee enough value to cover a replacement bike.

Decathlon’s figures on BuyBack and Second Life
In its 2025 promotional release, Decathlon UK reported that more than 5,900 items had been traded in through BuyBack so far that year—more than twice the number returned in 2024. It also said refurbished Second Life bikes represented 10% of all bike sales and that more than 1,000 items had been returned during that year’s Easter BuyBack promotion. These are company-reported figures, not independent measurements. Decathlon UK’s release contains the statements.

Decathlon UK’s website continues to list a Buy Back service, but the current page retrieved for this article did not expose readable active promotion terms. Its presence confirms the service is listed; it does not establish that the 2025 20% bonus, or another bonus, is currently available. Check Decathlon’s Buy Back page for current service details before arranging a trade-in.
