The film also set the R-rated global box-office record that year, but it no longer holds that all-time record.
How much did Deadpool & Wolverine make?
The Walt Disney Studios’ year-end 2024 summary, published in 2025, put the film’s worldwide box office at $1.34 billion: $637 million domestic and $701 million international. These are rounded reported grosses, not the film’s profit.

Why was it a major success for Disney?
The final gross and its position in Disney’s 2024 slate make the scale clear. The film was not the studio’s top release that year—Inside Out 2 ranked first—but a second-place global finish at $1.34 billion made it one of Disney’s biggest theatrical hits of the year.

Its opening also showed unusually strong demand. Disney reported a $444 million global opening and said the film set a record for an R-rated movie’s global opening, surpassing 2016’s Deadpool. That opening figure is an early milestone, not a final-gross figure. On August 16, 2024, Disney announced that the film had reached $1.086 billion worldwide after 23 days and become the highest-grossing R-rated film at the global box office at that time. Was it Disney’s biggest movie of 2024?
No. Disney’s year-end ranking placed Deadpool & Wolverine at No. 2 globally, behind Inside Out 2. Disney UK Press separately reported that Disney generated $5.46 billion in global box-office revenue in 2024. In its UK-specific reporting, it said Deadpool & Wolverine was the company’s second-place UK title, with £57.6 million in UK box office, alongside the $1.34 billion worldwide total. Those UK figures refer to a different geography and should not be confused with the global ranking.

Does the film’s box office tell us how much Disney profited?
No. Box-office gross is the amount reported from theatrical ticket sales, not the amount Disney kept or the title’s net profit. The cited figures do not quantify production costs, marketing and distribution expenses, the share retained by cinemas, or revenue from later distribution.

Disney’s fiscal 2025 earnings release described the “record theatrical performances of Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine” when explaining a year-over-year decline in its Content Sales/Licensing and Other segment. That is Disney’s characterization of theatrical performance in a segment comparison; it does not provide a standalone profit figure for this movie or say that the film caused the entire change. Disney’s fiscal 2025 earnings release supplies that company-level context.
Is Deadpool & Wolverine still the highest-grossing R-rated movie?
No. It held the global R-rated record after Disney’s August 2024 announcement, but the record later changed. The Associated Press reported in 2026 that The Odyssey had passed it. AP’s reported $1.4 billion figure refers to The Odyssey when it was identified as the new record-holder; it is not a revised total for Deadpool & Wolverine. Disney UK Press announced a Disney+ streaming launch for November 12, 2024. That historical announcement establishes the announced launch date, not whether the title is currently available in every country or region. Disney UK Press’ streaming announcement gives the date.
