Neither report disclosed a ticket count or sales total, so the records establish rankings—not how many tickets were sold or how much revenue they generated.
What record did Deadpool & Wolverine break on Fandango?
Advance tickets went on sale May 20, 2024. ComicBook.com reported the following day that the film had set Fandango’s best first-day ticket-sales record of 2024 and was the strongest first-day preseller in the Deadpool franchise, ahead of Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). ComicBook.com reported the first-day and franchise records on May 21, 2024.

That was a first-day result, not yet a claim that the film had sold more advance tickets than every other 2024 movie over the full presale period. On July 23, Fandango announced that Deadpool & Wolverine had become its best ticket preseller of 2024, surpassing Dune: Part Two. The film was scheduled to open in theaters on July 26. Boxoffice Pro reproduced Fandango’s July 23, 2024 announcement.
How quickly did tickets sell?
The first reported milestone came one day after advance sales opened: the May 20 on-sale date was followed by the May 21 report of a Fandango first-day record. The later annual ranking was announced July 23, more than two months after sales began and three days before the scheduled theatrical opening. These are different measurement windows: an opening-day comparison and a cumulative year-to-date preseller ranking.

- Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake yet. His days as Deadpool behind him, a listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. But when his homeworld is threatened, he reluctantly suits up as he tries to convince Wolverine? oh hell, just watch. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.

What the record does—and does not—tell you
The cited reports describe the film’s position in Fandango’s rankings, but publish no ticket count, presale revenue, or percentage lead. The claim is not a revenue record, and the sources do not establish a record across all ticketing platforms or worldwide. Presale rankings also measure advance ticket purchases; they are not the same as opening-weekend box-office grosses or theater concessions and merchandise sales.
Fandango executive vice president Jerramy Hainline said in the July 23 announcement, as reproduced by Boxoffice Pro: “The fan anticipation for Deadpool & Wolverine is incredible to see as more and more people set their plans to experience this film the way it was intended – on the big screen.” The statement describes audience anticipation; it does not supply a sales total.

Tickets and the 2024 Fandango package
Fandango promoted a Deadpool Premium Package in 2024 that included two movie tickets and official best-friends necklaces. That offer is period context, not evidence of a separate presale record, and its current availability is not established. Fandango’s listing gives the film an R rating and a runtime of 2 hours 7 minutes, with a release date of July 26, 2024. Fandango’s film listing is a reference for those release details, not an indication that tickets or showtimes are currently available.
