1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDDN CEO and co-founder Alex Bouzari says DDN is no longer best understood as only a storage vendor. His strategy is to make DDN the data-intelligence layer for enterprise AI—supporting model training, inference and increasingly complex multimodal workloads—while partners deploy, integrate and operate the resulting systems. The 2025 interview presented that thesis; DDN’s 2026 partner announcements show it extending into sovereign-cloud, multi-tenant “AI factory” infrastructure.
DDN’s shift from storage vendor to data-intelligence provider
DDN has longstanding roots in high-performance storage and high-performance computing. Bouzari’s preferred description, however, is a data-intelligence company. In the interview with CRN, he framed the company’s job as supplying and managing the data path required for AI training and inference.
That path includes repositories, parallel data access, networks, processors and AI applications. The business case is straightforward: expensive GPUs deliver little value if data cannot reach them predictably, if checkpoints take too long, or if teams cannot operate the environment reliably. DDN’s own explanation of the architecture treats AI as a data-center-scale coordination problem rather than an isolated storage purchase (DDN).
What “data intelligence” means in practice
- Keeping training and inference data available at the rates the compute platform requires.
- Supporting large, concurrent and multimodal datasets, including text, images, audio and video.
- Applying policy, quality of service and multi-tenancy as several teams or customers share infrastructure.
- Connecting data services to on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
- Packaging software, reference designs and services so customers can obtain an operating system for AI, not just hardware capacity.
Why Bouzari says infrastructure is becoming a commodity
Bouzari compared DDN’s desired position with companies such as AWS and Snowflake: underlying infrastructure enables the service, but software, integration and business outcomes capture more of the customer value. This is a strategic positioning argument, not proof that storage, networking or compute are interchangeable.

- Entry-level NAS Personal Storage:UGREEN NAS DH2300 is your first and best NAS made easy. It is designed for beginners who want a simple, private way to store videos, photos and personal files, which is intuitive for users moving from cloud storage or external drives and move away from scattered date across devices. This entry-level NAS 2-bay perfect for personal entertainment, photo storage, and easy data backup (doesn't support Docker or virtual machines).
- Set Your Devices Free, Expand Your Digital World: This unified storage hub supports massive capacity up to 64TB.*Storage drives not included. Stop Deleting, Start Storing. You can store 22 million 3MB images, or 2 million 30MB songs, or 43K 1.5GB movies or 67 million 1MB documents! UGREEN NAS is a better way to free up storage across all your devices such as phones, computers, tablets and also does automatic backups across devices regardless of the operating system—Window, iOS, Android or macOS.
- The Smarter Long-term Way to Store: Unlike cloud storage with recurring monthly fees, a UGREEN NAS enclosure requires only a one-time purchase for long-term use. For example, you only need to pay $459.98 for a NAS, while for cloud storage, you need to pay $719.88 per year, $2,159.64 for 3 years, $3,599.40 for 5 years. You will save $6,738.82 over 10 years with UGREEN NAS! *NAS cost based on DH2300 + 12TB HDD; cloud cost based on 12TB plan (e.g. $59.99/month).
- Blazing Speed, Minimal Power: Equipped with a high-performance processor, 1GbE port, and 4GB RAM on Board, this NAS handles multiple tasks with ease. File transfers reach up to 125MB/s—a 1GB file takes only 8 seconds. Don't let slow clouds hold you back; they often need over 100 seconds for the same task. The difference is clear.
- Let AI Better Organize Your Memories: UGREEN NAS uses AI to tag faces, locations, texts, and objects—so you can effortlessly find any photo by searching for who or what's in it in seconds. It also automatically finds and deletes similar or duplicate photo, backs up live photos and allows you to share them with your friends or family with just one tap. Everything stays effortlessly organized, powered by intelligent tagging and recognition.
AI infrastructure still differs materially in metadata performance, concurrent access, checkpoint behavior, latency, failure recovery, data movement and GPU-fabric integration. Bouzari’s point is narrower: DDN wants to be paid for making those components useful together, rather than competing only on a storage specification.
The enterprise problem DDN is trying to solve
Enterprise AI projects often fail to progress because the organization must coordinate storage, networking, GPUs, software frameworks, security, governance and application integration. IT teams may lack specialists, and a deployment that disrupts existing systems can be unacceptable. The buyer needs measurable workload outcomes, not an impressive equipment list.
The newer “AI factory” framing adds further concerns: predictable GPU performance, data locality, compliance, tenant isolation and time to value. In its March 16, 2026 announcement with Zadara, DDN described a joint approach aimed at sovereign clouds, service providers, telcos and regulated enterprises (DDN’s announcement).

The products behind the mission
IndustrySync: packaged industry solutions
Bouzari introduced IndustrySync as a suite of packaged, “one-click” AI-engineered solutions initially aimed at financial services, life sciences and autonomous driving. DDN said it chose those sectors because it already had customers and domain experience there, while many organizations lacked the staff, budget or time to assemble an AI platform themselves.
Recommended Free Tools
“One-click” should be read as packaging shorthand. The interview does not provide a public bill of materials, deployment guide, price list or independent test. A prospective buyer should establish whether a package includes hardware, software, validated workflows, model tooling, professional services and partner-delivered integration—and which tasks remain the customer’s responsibility.
xFusionAI: training and inference together
The interview described xFusionAI as an environment intended to combine model training and inference. That matters because the workloads are not identical. Training generally emphasizes sustained throughput and parallel data access; inference often emphasizes latency, concurrency, responsiveness and data locality.

- Secure private cloud - Enjoy 100% data ownership and multi-platform access from anywhere
- Easy sharing and syncing - Safely access and share files and media from anywhere, and keep clients, colleagues and collaborators on the same page
- Automated Backup Protection - Set-and-forget backups for Macs, PCs and mobile devices to multiple destinations including cloud and external drives

A unified environment could reduce duplicated infrastructure and simplify operations. The trade-off may be less specialization than two separately optimized systems. No independently documented performance improvement should be inferred from the product description.
Infinia: software-defined data services for inference and shared environments
Bouzari said DDN launched Infinia to improve latency characteristics for inference, including agentic and multimodal applications. DDN later described Infinia as software-defined, multi-protocol and usable in cloud and on-premises environments, with dynamic multi-tenancy and automated quality-of-service controls (DDN).

Why partners are “essential”
Bouzari said DDN is moving toward a channel-driven organization and does not want to displace partners with a direct-sales model. The intended relationship is value-added: DDN contributes AI data-infrastructure expertise, while partners supply the final-mile skills and accountability.
Deployment and integration
Partners can install and operationalize systems in a customer’s data center, then connect storage and data services to GPU platforms, networking, existing enterprise systems, cloud or hybrid environments, security controls and industry applications.
Industry knowledge
A financial-services integrator, life-sciences specialist or automotive engineering firm may understand workflows, compliance obligations and application dependencies better than a general infrastructure supplier.

Services and ongoing operations
DDN’s current partner page markets opportunities around architecture design, migration, AI-workload tuning and run/operate services (DDN Partner Network). Those services can include capacity planning, monitoring, governance implementation and incident support.
Reach and risk reduction
A channel expands geographic and customer coverage. For a buyer, an experienced integrator can also be the accountable implementation party, reducing the risk of assembling an unfamiliar stack alone. That benefit depends on the partner’s actual skills and the contracts governing escalation and support.

What buyers should examine before choosing a DDN-led stack
- Match the workload. Document model sizes, dataset volume, checkpoint frequency, concurrency, inference-latency targets and expected growth. A high-performance parallel platform may be excessive for API-only use or small experiments.
- Demand workload-specific evidence. Ask for the tested GPU type and count, network topology, storage configuration, framework and software versions. A performance claim without those conditions is not portable.
- Define responsibility. Put architecture ownership, installation, escalation, upgrades, monitoring and service-level obligations in writing across DDN, the integrator, cloud provider and GPU vendors.
- Test governance requirements. Confirm data locality, encryption, identity controls, tenant isolation, quality-of-service behavior, auditability and recovery procedures.
- Calculate total cost. Include facilities, networking, support, staffing, integration, migration, software subscriptions and the opportunity cost of reserved GPU capacity—not just storage prices.
- Assess lock-in and exit paths. Ask how data and workloads move to another platform, whether a replacement partner can take over, and which interfaces are open.
- Verify the partner. Request named engineers, certifications, reference architectures, relevant industry experience and a post-deployment operating model.
Where DDN’s approach fits—and where it may not
Likely fits
- Large-scale training or inference with costly GPUs that must stay highly utilized.
- HPC centers moving into AI, or regulated organizations requiring on-premises or sovereign deployment.
- Very large or multimodal datasets and shared infrastructure with multiple tenants or departments.
- Projects where an integrator must assume deployment and operations responsibility.
Potentially excessive
- Small experimental workloads or sporadic inference.
- AI consumed entirely through public APIs or managed cloud services.
- Organizations that need ordinary object storage rather than high-performance parallel access.
- Teams unable to support a complex, multi-vendor environment.
Claims, caveats and open questions
Bouzari said DDN’s AI business quadrupled in 2024 versus 2023, represented significantly more than half of revenue at the time, and could at least double again the following year. These are CEO-reported statements in the 2025 interview, not independently audited figures cited there.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Likewise, “one-click,” “AI factory” and product capability descriptions are positioning language. DDN’s partner page and announcements are useful evidence of the company’s commercial strategy, but claims about partner growth, win rates, training improvements or customer penetration should be treated as DDN marketing claims unless independently verified.
The central operational question remains accountability. When storage, GPUs, networking, orchestration and an application fail together, a customer needs a clear escalation path and a service-level commitment that spans the stack. Channel execution—not merely channel authorization—will determine whether DDN’s data-intelligence strategy becomes a dependable enterprise platform.
