Some people are using dating apps for work-related networking, and Bumble has presented Bumble Bizz as a professional-connection feature. But the evidence does not show that dating-app networking improves interview or hiring results. Treat it as an informal or purpose-built way to meet contacts—not a proven job-search strategy.
Why dating apps are entering the job-search conversation
Dating apps can put people in contact who might not otherwise meet. Some users have repurposed that discovery for career conversations; separately, Bumble has described a feature called Bizz specifically for professional connections. Those are different things: one is reported user behavior, the other is a company’s stated product purpose.

LinkedIn News reported on December 29, 2025, that nearly one-third of dating-app users had used the apps for job-related purposes. The available report does not identify the survey organization, sample, field dates, or methodology. That makes the figure a reported finding, not a definitive estimate of how common the behavior is across all users. It also does not establish that the practice is increasing: one finding is not a trend series. LinkedIn News
What Bumble Bizz was designed to do
Bumble’s official product page describes Bizz as a professional-networking use of the service, intended to let professionals connect, share, and learn. That is a company description of the feature, not independent evidence of adoption or career outcomes. Bumble Bizz
A 2016 TIME article described Bizz as using swipe-based local discovery to find business contacts. It quoted Bumble founder and then-CEO Whitney Wolfe saying, “What is that one connection that changed the course of your career? That’s the connection we want to provide to people every day.” The remark explains the product’s ambition at the time; it is not proof that the feature delivers that result or that its historical mechanics remain current. Bumble’s 2023 proxy statement also characterized its apps as serving dating, friendship, and professional-networking purposes. That is corporate product context, not independent evidence of how many people use Bizz. Bumble 2023 proxy statement
Can dating apps help you find a job?
They may help someone start a conversation or make a professional contact, but the sources available do not show that using dating apps increases referrals, interviews, or job offers. A platform’s aim to facilitate connections, an anecdote about a useful introduction, and evidence of hiring effectiveness are not interchangeable.
There is also no head-to-head evidence here comparing dating apps with professional networking platforms. For a job seeker, the practical question is whether a channel makes professional intent clear and helps both people have the conversation they expect—not whether a swipe or match itself signals career value.

How to choose a channel for professional networking
| Consideration | Dating-app context | Professional-networking context |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Often framed around dating; Bizz was presented as a distinct professional feature. | Career networking is the explicit context. |
| Profile context | A general dating profile may emphasize personal preferences rather than credentials or career goals. | A profile can foreground professional identity and experience. |
| Discovery | TIME described Bizz’s historical approach as swipe-based local discovery; current mechanics and availability are not established here. | Use the platform’s current professional search and discovery options; this evidence does not support a feature-by-feature comparison. |
| Expectations | A match on a dating app does not mean the other person wants a career conversation. | Professional intent is clearer, though a contact still may not want or be able to help. |
| Evidence of hiring results | No evidence reviewed establishes improved employment outcomes. | No comparative outcome evidence is established here either. |
If you use any channel for networking, make the purpose explicit and keep the request proportionate: explain what kind of advice or introduction you are seeking, and accept a no or no response without pressure. On a dating app, do not treat a match as consent to a professional pitch. A dedicated career platform is generally the clearer context when your primary aim is employment networking.
What the available numbers do—and do not—say
Other Bumble figures sometimes cited alongside this topic do not measure career networking. Bumble reported polling 41,294 members aged 18–35 worldwide for its 2025 dating-trends report; the poll ran September 19–23, 2024, and addressed dating trends, not job-related use. Bumble Inc. also reported over 42 million average monthly users across its app family in 2024. That corporate-reported scale is not a count of Bizz users and says nothing about job-search outcomes. Bumble Inc. 2024 annual report

Check availability before relying on Bumble Bizz
Bumble’s product page establishes how the company presents Bizz, but the sources do not establish current availability in every country or app version. If you are considering it, check Bumble’s current official app information for your location before planning around the feature; do not assume the 2016 description reflects today’s interface.
