What does Chilldyne make?
Chilldyne develops direct-to-chip liquid cooling for high-performance computing and AI data centers, where processors and GPUs produce substantial heat. How is negative-pressure cooling intended to reduce leak risk?
In a direct-to-chip system, coolant travels through equipment close to server components. Daikin says Chilldyne’s negative-pressure design is intended to draw liquid inward if piping is damaged, rather than push coolant outward through a leak. That is a leak-risk mitigation approach, not a guarantee that leaks cannot happen or that equipment will never be affected.

Daikin’s explanation addresses a concern associated with bringing liquid cooling into server equipment. Why did Daikin buy Chilldyne?
Daikin says the acquisition expands its data-center cooling portfolio and supports its effort to offer integrated cooling solutions for hyperscale and next-generation AI facilities. Daikin Applied Americas COO Yu Nishiwaki said the acquisition would help the company offer a broader set of data-center cooling solutions. Chilldyne CEO Dr. Steve Harrington said joining Daikin would allow Chilldyne to scale its second-generation liquid-cooling ecosystem. These statements describe the companies’ objectives; they do not establish how quickly deployment or manufacturing will expand.

Daikin and Chilldyne describe potential benefits involving leak mitigation, energy efficiency, uptime, installation, and cost.
