Cynomi announced a $37 million Series B on April 23, 2025, to expand its AI-powered virtual chief information security officer (vCISO) platform. Insight Partners and Entrée Capital co-led the round, with participation from existing investors Canaan, Flint Capital, and S16VC.
The financing is aimed at product development, U.S. and European expansion, partner enablement, and broader distribution through systems integrators and value-added resellers. Cynomi’s primary customers are not individual businesses buying a standalone security tool, but MSPs, MSSPs, consultancies, and other providers that deliver cybersecurity services to multiple clients.

What Cynomi does
A vCISO is an outsourced or fractional security leader who helps an organization assess risk, establish security policies, meet compliance obligations, and prioritize improvements. Cynomi’s platform is designed to help service providers deliver much of that work repeatedly across many customer environments.

- Deliver and track the program: create policies, reports, remediation tasks, and dashboards for both the provider and its client.
Current company materials position Cynomi more broadly as a “security growth platform” for MSPs, MSSPs, and vCISO consultancies. That positioning includes security posture management, compliance, risk management, remediation planning, executive reporting, third-party risk management, revenue analytics, public APIs, and what Cynomi calls “CISO Intelligence.” These later capabilities reflect the company’s 2026 positioning and should not automatically be treated as features available when the Series B was announced.

Who the platform is built for
Cynomi’s channel-first model is central to understanding the financing. The intended buyer is generally a provider that already manages technology or security relationships for other businesses, including:

Rather than selling directly to every small or midsize business, Cynomi aims to help partners package security advisory as a recurring service. The provider keeps the customer relationship, interprets the recommendations, communicates with executives, and oversees implementation. Cynomi supplies software intended to make the underlying work more repeatable.
The company says it is “100% partner-focused” on its partner page. For an MSP or MSSP, that model could support a new vCISO offering or help an existing security team handle more accounts without adding senior security staff at the same rate as customer growth.
Why automation matters in vCISO services
Traditional vCISO engagements require significant human effort. A consultant may need to interview each customer, document its technology and business risks, map requirements to a framework, write policies, create a remediation roadmap, prepare executive reports, and revisit the program regularly.

Those tasks are especially difficult to scale when a provider serves many SMB or midmarket customers with different systems, risk tolerances, and regulatory obligations. Cynomi’s thesis is that software can automate and standardize portions of this process so security professionals can spend more time on interpretation, prioritization, communication, and execution.

Cynomi said partners reported up to a 70% reduction in manual work. That is a company-reported, partner-based claim—not an independently audited average or universal performance result. Actual savings would depend on the provider’s existing processes, customer complexity, integrations, framework requirements, and the amount of human review it maintains.
How the Series B will be used
According to Cynomi’s Series B announcement, the capital will support two main priorities.
Product and AI development
Cynomi said it plans to invest in more agentic AI and automation, expanded cybersecurity and compliance capabilities, partner enablement, and business-intelligence tools. The partner features are intended not only to improve service delivery, but also to help providers position, sell, differentiate, and grow their security offerings.
“Agentic AI” is Cynomi’s terminology and should not be confused with proof that the platform independently makes reliable security decisions. Buyers should ask which actions are automated, what data the system uses, where approval is required, how recommendations are tested, and how errors are corrected.

The company also plans greater activity in the United States, a deeper European presence, and a larger service-provider ecosystem. SecurityWeek reported that the expansion would include sales and operational growth as well as broader reach among systems integrators and resellers.

This strategy gives Cynomi access to providers that already have established customer relationships. It also reflects a wider market demand for “security expertise as software”: smaller organizations often cannot hire a full-time CISO, while their technology providers want to offer more strategic security services.
Reported traction—and what remains undisclosed
Cynomi reported that annual recurring revenue grew 4.5 times in 2023 and three times in 2024. Ctech repeated those figures in its coverage of the financing. Cynomi did not disclose absolute ARR, customer count, retention, gross margin, or dollar-based net retention in the funding announcement.
The round’s $37 million amount, investor participation, and expansion plans are verifiable financing details. They do not independently establish the platform’s security effectiveness, AI accuracy, customer return on investment, or market leadership.

The announcement also does not disclose the company’s valuation, individual investor allocations, debt or equity structure, ownership changes, or total capital raised after the round. Cynomi announced a $20 million Series A in April 2024, but the available materials do not provide a complete post-Series B capitalization picture.
Why the round matters in the security market
It validates a channel-first vCISO strategy
The financing signals investor confidence in the idea that MSPs, MSSPs, and consultancies can be an efficient distribution channel for vCISO technology. Those firms already manage IT and security relationships and may be able to turn advisory work into recurring revenue.
It sits between software and professional services
Cynomi is not simply an endpoint, SIEM, MDR, vulnerability-management, or incident-response product. It also is not merely a generic compliance checklist or ticketing system.

Its positioning sits between GRC software and human-led advisory services. GRC tools commonly organize controls, evidence, and audit workflows. A vCISO engagement adds risk interpretation, policy development, executive communication, and remediation guidance. Cynomi aims to combine workflow automation and compliance mapping with a provider-operated service model.
It does not eliminate human accountability
Automation can assist with assessments, policies, reporting, and task prioritization. It does not assume legal responsibility, board accountability, incident-command duties, executive judgment, or specialized regulatory interpretation. AI-generated policies and remediation plans should be reviewed by qualified personnel before they are delivered to a client or adopted as part of a security program.
Framework coverage is not the same as compliance
Cynomi’s current product materials list support for frameworks and regulations including NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2, PCI DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA, CMMC, and DORA, among others. Framework availability and module scope may vary by plan and geography.
A platform’s ability to map controls to a framework does not itself certify an organization, guarantee legal compliance, or prove that every requirement has been satisfied. Buyers should confirm the exact framework version, included modules, evidence requirements, update process, and role of human review.
Who should evaluate Cynomi?
Cynomi may be worth evaluating when a provider:
- Serves many SMB or midmarket customers.
- Wants to launch or expand vCISO services.
- Needs multitenant assessments, remediation plans, policies, and reporting.
- Has security or compliance staff but needs them to support more accounts.
- Wants to create a repeatable, recurring advisory service.
- Prefers a partner-focused vendor that does not primarily compete for the end customer.
It may be a poor fit for an enterprise seeking an internal CISO replacement, a company that primarily needs security operations, or a buyer looking for endpoint protection, SIEM, MDR, vulnerability management, or incident response. It may also be unsuitable for organizations that want a low-cost self-service checklist or have highly specialized requirements outside the selected package.

- Is pricing based on the provider, technician, client, framework, module, assessed assets, or another measure?
- What is included in Cynomi Core and Cynomi Pro, and which features cost extra?
- Are one-time assessments available, and can they become recurring services?
- Which integrations and APIs are available now?
- How are tenants, evidence, customer data, and AI prompts isolated?
- Are customer data used to train models?
- Where is data hosted, how long is it retained, and what export controls exist?
- Can the provider export assessments, policies, evidence, and task history?
- How are framework mappings updated?
- What human review is expected before policies or remediation plans reach customers?
- What support, uptime, and service-level commitments apply?
- What measurable outcomes have comparable partners achieved beyond the “up to 70%” claim?
Cynomi’s June 2026 packaging announcement says the company moved from a single ongoing license to a more flexible à la carte model that includes Cynomi Pro and Cynomi Core. Public dollar pricing was not provided in the cited materials, so prospective buyers should expect a sales or partner discussion rather than self-service checkout. Where Cynomi stood by 2026
As of August 18, 2026, Cynomi’s messaging had broadened from a focused vCISO platform to a security growth platform. It now emphasizes CISO Intelligence, AI agents, compliance and advisory delivery, risk management, third-party risk management, and revenue analytics for partners.
That broader positioning shows how the company is using the Series B thesis: not just to automate individual assessments, but to support the operational and commercial needs of firms delivering security services at scale. It still should not be read as evidence that Cynomi replaces a human CISO or that every listed capability was available in April 2025.
Bottom line
Cynomi’s $37 million Series B is a significant funding event for a channel-first approach to vCISO services. The company is trying to help MSPs, MSSPs, and consultancies productize security assessments, compliance work, remediation planning, and executive reporting across multiple clients.
For providers with an established service-delivery team, the platform may merit evaluation as a way to standardize and scale advisory work. The funding, however, is not proof of cybersecurity outcomes or AI reliability. Any buying decision should depend on a hands-on assessment of data governance, framework coverage, integrations, pricing, exportability, and the amount of qualified human oversight the service requires.
