The roundup, published July 7, 2022, covers a broad mix of security, cloud, identity, payments, consulting and managed-IT businesses; it is a dated snapshot, not a measure of deal activity today.
What does the June 2022 total include?
The figure of 45 is SecurityWeek’s count of cybersecurity-related deal announcements. The publication did not set out detailed inclusion criteria or provide a transaction database, so the tally should be read as its editorial count rather than a comprehensive, independently verified market total. The source also cited its earlier finding that more than 430 cybersecurity mergers and acquisitions were announced in 2021; that comparison is SecurityWeek’s reported figure.

The roundup groups announcements into June 1–15 and June 16–30. It describes the first half as busier but does not give a precise half-month count in its article text. The transactions below retain the roundup’s broad scope: not every target was a pure-play cybersecurity company.

What can the reported deal values tell you?
SecurityWeek disclosed values for only three transactions in this roundup: ReliaQuest’s reported $160 million deal for Digital Shadows, China Mobile’s 4.14 billion yuan (approximately $620 million) purchase of a controlling stake in Venustech, and Comcast’s roughly $50 million acquisition of Levl. These are selectively reported figures, not a complete valuation set. The roundup does not support ranking all the transactions by size or calculating a reliable total value for June.

What patterns stand out in the roundup?
The announced transactions show several recurring strategic themes, though the examples do not establish how common each theme was across the market:
- Capability expansion: Buyers added cloud security, threat intelligence, identity, IoT protection, vulnerability management and data-protection capabilities.
- Service and geographic expansion: Several deals brought in managed-service providers, consultancies or businesses serving particular regions and customer groups, including healthcare, small businesses and alternative investment managers.
- Security in adjacent technology markets: The roundup also included payment and identity solutions, managed DNS, remote access, device intelligence, connected-building security and quantum photonics.
SecurityWeek’s wording varies across the announcements: some are described as acquisitions, while others are plans, agreements or completed transactions. The roundup therefore should not be read as saying every listed deal had closed in June 2022.
