SecurityWeek counted 27 cybersecurity-related M&A announcements in August 2025, in a roundup published September 8. Ten deals received fuller summaries; the other 17 were listed by name only. The roundup calls the month a significant drop from previous months but gives no month-over-month figure, and its announcement count is not an independently audited database total. Some entries describe completed acquisitions, while others say a buyer announced plans or an agreement to acquire a target.
What the August 2025 roundup covers
SecurityWeek’s roundup describes ten transactions in detail and names 17 additional announcements. Its summaries connect the featured deals to a range of capabilities, including cybersecurity services in Asia-Pacific, developer security, security-information and event-management (SIEM) telemetry, supply-chain risk, cloud-native network observability, identity verification, application-security posture management, managed identity, privileged access, and AI security. Those themes describe the highlighted transactions; they are not a measured breakdown of all 27 deals.
The roundup also reports that SecurityWeek counted 405 cybersecurity-related M&A announcements in 2024. That figure is SecurityWeek’s own analysis, not an independently validated total here. SecurityWeek’s 2024 roundup provides its annual context.

Only a few featured transactions have figures in SecurityWeek’s account, and the descriptions do not make them a comparable set of disclosed purchase prices. CyberCX’s terms were not officially disclosed; the above-A$1 billion (about US$650 million) valuation is attributed to the Australian Financial Review. Onum’s terms were undisclosed and its $290 million value was reported. The Axiom range of $75 million to $100 million and Prompt Security’s estimated $250 million value are estimates in the roundup. Diginex’s stated agreement, by contrast, was for up to $305 million in cash and shares. The roundup gives no terms for the other featured deals.
These figures should therefore be read according to their different wording and disclosure status, not as a ranked list of confirmed prices. SecurityWeek does not define its ten featured deals as a formal ranking by transaction size.
