It named Amazon, Currys, Argos, John Lewis and Adidas as deal destinations. These are historical mentions, not confirmation of current offers or stock. Why its prices and urgency claims are out of date
The roundup was last updated on 2 December 2025. Its statement that deals remained after Cyber Monday described the situation at that time; it cannot establish availability in October 2026. The historical example of a PS5 at £289 with a stated £240 saving is not a current price or a promise that the same offer will return. No current price, stock status, or end date for the listed offers is established by that article.
How to check a deal before buying
- Confirm the exact item. Check the model, generation, size, and configuration against the listing. For a laptop or TV, specifications matter; a similar-looking product may be a different version.
- Check the retailer’s live listing. Verify that the item can be added to basket and delivered to your UK location. A search result or old roundup does not confirm stock.
- Compare the delivered price. Include delivery and any required extras, then compare the same model with a credible recent or regular price. A discount percentage alone does not show whether an offer is good value.
- Read the terms before checkout. Check the offer end date, returns policy and warranty terms on the retailer’s current page.
- Decide whether it suits your needs. Compare relevant features for the category rather than ranking unrelated products by their advertised savings.
Which categories to compare on their own
The original roundup spans unlike products, so a single discount-based ranking would be misleading. Compare like with like: laptops by configuration, TVs by screen and specification, and appliances or wearables by features that affect everyday use. For games, fashion, smart-home products and gifts, check the exact item and terms rather than assuming a past promotion applies to the current listing.
