The official information reviewed does not confirm that CSIR UGC NET December 2025 registration closes today or that the exam is scheduled for December 18. Check the official CSIR-NET portal for a notice specific to the December 2025 cycle before relying on either date.

Are the December 2025 registration dates confirmed?

No December 2025 application deadline is established by the official portal information reviewed here. The portal listing identifies the June 2025 cycle and related notices; the official archive content reviewed also does not establish a December 2025 deadline. That does not prove no later notice exists, so use the portal’s current notices to verify the status.

Application deadlines are cycle-specific and may be changed by an official extension notice. Do not treat a headline saying registration “ends today” as confirmation unless the date appears in a notice for the relevant cycle.

Is the exam on December 18?

The reviewed official material does not confirm December 18 as the December 2025 exam date. The official notice archive should be checked for a December 2025 schedule or later update.

The date found in an earlier notice is not a substitute for the current cycle’s schedule. NTA’s December 9, 2024 notice gave an exam window of February 16–28, 2025 for the December 2024 cycle; those dates apply only to that historical cycle.

How to verify the deadline and schedule

  1. Open the official CSIR-NET portal.
  2. Look for a notice explicitly naming the December 2025 cycle. Confirm its application closing date and, if listed, fee-payment deadline.
  3. Check for subsequent notices, including any extension or revised schedule, before acting on an earlier date.
  4. Use the dates in the applicable official notice rather than carrying over dates or fees from a previous cycle.

What the previous December cycle tells candidates—and what it does not

NTA’s December 9, 2024 opening notice concerned the December 2024 cycle: applications ran from December 9 to December 30, 2024, the fee deadline was December 31, 2024, and the exam window was February 16–28, 2025. These historical dates do not verify a December 2025 registration deadline or exam date.

That notice described the exam as a three-hour, computer-based, objective-type multiple-choice test in English and Hindi. Its five subject papers were Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences. The test covered eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor appointment, Assistant Professor appointment and Ph.D. admission, or Ph.D. admission only, subject to applicable criteria. This is context about the December 2024 cycle, not confirmation of December 2025 arrangements.

The December 2024 information bulletin listed fees of INR 1,150 for General candidates, INR 600 for General-EWS/OBC-NCL, and INR 325 for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates, plus applicable processing charges and GST. These are historical, cycle-specific amounts and should not be assumed to be the fees for a later cycle.
