CryptoSe: What to Know About the Proposed Crypto-to-UPI App in India

CryptoSe says it will convert supported crypto into INR for UPI QR payments. Its public launch is unconfirmed, and its FIU-IND registration is not a banking or exchange licence.

CryptoSe says it is building a service that converts supported crypto into Indian rupees so users can pay a merchant’s UPI QR code. But its official website describes the app as pre-launch and says the apps are coming soon; a report published the same day says they are live. Public availability is not independently established, so readers should treat CryptoSe’s features and regulatory claims as company statements—not as proof of a working payment service.

What CryptoSe says it will do

CryptoSe identifies Dadu Fintech Private Limited as its operating company. Its website describes a payment flow in which a user connects a non-custodial wallet, scans a UPI QR code, receives an INR quote, and confirms a crypto-funded transaction. The intended outcome is that the merchant receives rupees rather than cryptocurrency. The company presents QR scanning and wallet connection as app features, but these are product descriptions, not independently verified performance. See CryptoSe’s website and its feature page.

The company lists USDT, USDC, BTC and ETH, and specifies TRC-20 USDT, ERC-20 USDT and ERC-20 USDC among its network options. It also lists UPI. Those listings describe stated support; they do not establish that every asset, network or payment route is currently operational in a public app.

Is CryptoSe live in India?

The available statements conflict. CryptoSe’s official site labels the service pre-launch and says its apps are coming soon. A Webindia123 report published on 3 October 2026 says the apps are live. The available information does not independently confirm public app-store availability or resolve the discrepancy. Check the company’s current official channels and app-store listings before relying on the service; a launch claim alone is not confirmation that you can complete a payment.

Operational details also remain unverified, including which wallets and settlement integrations work, how long INR settlement takes, what fees or exchange-rate spread apply, and whether all listed assets and networks are available. The company’s feature page should be read as a specification, not an independent test or guarantee.

Does CryptoSe’s FIU-IND registration mean it is licensed?

No—not on the evidence available. CryptoSe states that it is registered as a virtual digital asset service provider with FIU-IND and gives the identifier Temporary/2025/VDASP/219. That identifier is company-stated and has not been independently confirmed here.

CryptoSe’s own disclaimer says: “FIU-IND is a reporting authority, not a licensor; references to ‘registered’ describe our registration as a PMLA reporting entity, not a banking or exchange licence.” Accordingly, this registration claim should not be described as government approval, or taken to mean CryptoSe is a bank or licensed exchange. FIU-IND’s downloads page lists VDA service-provider materials, including AML/CFT guidelines dated 10 March 2023 and a registration circular revised on 15 September 2025. The existence of those reporting and AML materials does not verify CryptoSe’s controls or confer a banking or exchange licence.

The company says it requires KYC and uses transaction monitoring and compliance controls. Those are its stated practices; the registration claim and published features do not independently establish how those controls operate in practice.

Could 1% TDS apply when spending crypto?

Potentially, but the precise treatment depends on the transaction structure and applicable rules. The Income Tax Department says Section 194S generally requires a payer to deduct tax at 1% of consideration when paying a resident for the transfer of a virtual digital asset (VDA), subject to thresholds and rules that can allocate responsibility differently for specified persons and transaction arrangements. Its guidance is available at TDS on payment for the transfer of VDAs.

A crypto-funded QR payment may involve a VDA transfer, but that possibility does not by itself identify who must deduct tax or how Section 194S applies to a particular CryptoSe transaction. CryptoSe says it deducts 1% TDS at source and provides tax-ready settlement statements. That is the company’s implementation claim; it is separate from the statute’s general rule and is not a determination of an individual user’s tax treatment. Review transaction records and seek qualified tax advice for your circumstances.
