CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju expects this Bitcoin bull cycle to rise 3–5x rather than repeat a 10x-plus parabolic rally, with a milder bear market afterward. That is an attributed forecast, not a confirmed market outcome: the accessible reporting gives neither a fixed BTC price target nor a clearly defined starting low for the multiple.
What Ki Young Ju is forecasting
In a post dated September 22, 2026, Ju wrote: “I expect this Bitcoin bull cycle to deliver 3–5x rather than another 10x+ parabolic rally, followed by a milder bear market.” Bitcoin Foundation reproduced the statement in its September 23 report (Bitcoin Foundation). The forecast concerns the scale and shape of a cycle, not a specific price prediction.
The Bitcoin Magazine interview listing published October 5, 2026 frames the outlook as a choice between a 10x move and a 3–5x cycle, and attributes to Ju the view that the bull run has started. The listing says ETF and institutional custody flows may damp volatility; the interview page itself was not accessible, so details beyond the listing and summary should not be treated as independently verified interview remarks (Bitcoin Magazine).
Why he expects a less extreme cycle
Ju’s thesis is structural: Bitcoin’s market has grown, and institutional ownership and flows have become more important. In that view, more capital is needed to move a larger market, which can moderate price swings in both directions. A less explosive advance could therefore be followed by a less severe downturn—but neither outcome is assured.

Bitcoin Foundation’s account attributes several supporting interpretations to Ju. He sees continued growth in realized capitalization as evidence of capital entering Bitcoin, while arguing that each new dollar may have less price impact than in earlier cycles. He also interprets holder and derivatives data as suggesting early large holders had stopped selling and futures traders had increased long positions near a recent low. These are model-dependent readings, not proof that all long-term holders have stopped distributing or that prices must rise.
How the cited indicators fit the argument
- MVRV: Bitcoin Foundation says Ju’s model showed MVRV above 1 throughout this cycle. In the report’s explanation, that means market value stayed above aggregate on-chain cost basis. It is a valuation measure, not a timing signal that guarantees another leg higher.
- CryptoQuant’s PnL Index: Ju reportedly sees a less pronounced cycle pattern in the index, consistent with a market behaving differently from earlier cycles. The interpretation depends on the index’s construction and should not be read as a standalone price forecast.
- Realized capitalization: Growth is presented as evidence of capital entering the market, alongside the argument that incremental inflows may move price less as the market grows.
- Whale and futures readings: Wallet classifications and derivatives positioning inform the reported view of selling and long exposure. Classification methods and measurements matter, and the data do not establish what every holder or trader is doing.
These indicators describe activity or support an interpretation of it; they do not independently confirm that a bull market has begun or predict its eventual return.

How to read the 3–5x figure
The multiple is not a usable BTC target by itself. The accessible reports do not specify which low is the base, give a fixed future price, or establish a forecast horizon. Multiplying a chosen low by three or five would create a calculation from your own assumption, not a price target Ju stated. The 10x+ comparison likewise describes the kind of parabolic rally he says he does not expect, rather than a competing target with a defined date.
For context, CoinNess reported on September 22, 2026, that Ju compared earlier retail-dominated cycles with historical crashes of about 80% (CoinNess). That is a reference to past declines, not a floor or forecast for the next bear market. “Milder” does not mean small, predictable, or safe for an investor who may need to sell during a downturn.

What this outlook does—and does not—tell an investor
Ju’s forecast is most useful as a scenario about market structure: a larger Bitcoin market with more institutional participation may produce less extreme upside and downside than earlier cycles. It is not confirmation that the bull run has started, a probability estimate, or a schedule for when to buy or sell.
