What happened in Paris?
Three masked men reportedly approached the family in a van described as bearing Chronopost branding and tried to force the woman and child inside. The woman’s partner intervened and was assaulted. The attackers left without abducting either of them, according to Futurism’s May 15, 2025 report and India Today’s May 15 report.
India Today additionally reported that a shopkeeper intervened with a fire extinguisher. That detail is specific to its account in the reviewed coverage.
Was the intended victim Pierre Noizat’s daughter?
Reports identified the woman as the daughter of Pierre Noizat, co-founder of French cryptocurrency exchange Paymium. India Today said prosecutors did not confirm the identities of the intended victims. The identification should therefore be attributed to media reporting, not presented as an officially confirmed fact.

Was the attack connected to cryptocurrency?
The reviewed reports do not establish a motive. Crypto Briefing’s May 13 report, citing Valeurs Actuelles, said investigators examined whether the family’s crypto ties were relevant and whether the attack was financially motivated. That is an investigative possibility, not proof that the assailants targeted the family because of cryptocurrency.
