Who the schedule covered
The announcement concerned only the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recruitment for ASI (Steno) and HC (Ministerial). Scroll’s January 5, 2024 report said 1,107 ASI (Steno) and 8,000 HC (Ministerial) candidates had been shortlisted for DV. What the January 12 date means
The reported start date was January 12, 2024. It is not an upcoming date or evidence of a current CRPF recruitment schedule. Scroll linked separate schedules for ASI and HC candidates, but individual dates, reporting times, and venues are not established here. Candidates who need their assigned slot or any amended instructions should check the relevant CRPF schedule or admit-card notice rather than rely on the general start date.
How DV fits into the selection process
CRPF’s recruitment advertisement for this drive lists the stages as computer-based test (CBT), skill test, physical standards test (PST), document verification, and medical test. It says eligibility-supporting certificates and documents are collected and verified during DV. Final selection depends on CBT performance, subject to qualifying the skill test, PST, DV, medical examination, and the other conditions in the notice. Consult the CRPF recruitment advertisement.

What candidates were told to bring
Scroll’s report attributes this instruction to the schedule notification: “Candidates are advised to bring their CBT/Skill Test Admit Card and Photo bearing Identity Card to authenticate their identity,” The underlying schedule PDF was not independently accessible here, so this wording is attributed to Scroll’s report.
The CRPF recruitment advertisement says stage admit cards are made available online, not sent by post, and advises candidates to check CRPF websites for updates. It also instructs candidates to bring two color copies of the admit card for each test stage. For an individual appointment, follow the applicable schedule and admit-card instructions.

The CRPF advertisement listed 143 ASI (Steno) vacancies and 1,315 HC (Ministerial) vacancies, for 1,458 advertised vacancies in total. Scroll’s reported shortlist figures are larger, separate counts and should not be mistaken for the number of vacancies.
