But its latest reviewed SEC filing still describes adverse effects, legal exposure and uncertainty from the incident. Those operating results do not establish that CRWD shares are attractively priced: without a current valuation, the case is for further assessment, not an unqualified buy verdict.
What caused the CrowdStrike outage?
On July 19, 2024, CrowdStrike released a content configuration update for its Falcon sensor on Windows. On affected systems, the update led to crashes. In its August 6, 2024 root-cause analysis, CrowdStrike traced the failure to a template instance with a mismatched number of inputs. When the Content Interpreter processed it, the system could crash; the validation process had not caught the problem.
CrowdStrike apologized in its analysis, writing, “We apologize unreservedly.” The company said it subsequently added tests for each new template instance, staged deployment layers and acceptance checks, and gave customers more control over when and where rapid response content updates are deployed. These are company-reported changes; they do not prove that a similar failure cannot happen again.
What do CrowdStrike’s latest reported results show?
CrowdStrike’s second-quarter fiscal 2027 results cover the three months ended July 31, 2026. The company published them on August 26, 2026. They show continued growth, substantial cash generation and a return to a small GAAP profit for the quarter.

| Measure | Reported result | Comparison or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $1.47 billion | Up 26% year over year |
| Annual recurring revenue (ARR) | $5.84 billion | Up 25% year over year |
| Net new ARR | $332.8 million | Up 51% year over year; the release rounded the amount to $333 million |
| Cash generated from operations | $530.3 million | Quarterly figure |
| Free cash flow | $377.4 million | Quarterly figure |
| GAAP net income attributable to CrowdStrike | $5.3 million | Compared with a $70.2 million loss in the year-ago quarter |
| FY2027 net-new-ARR growth outlook | 34% at the midpoint | CrowdStrike raised the midpoint by 630 basis points |
ARR and net new ARR are measures of recurring business momentum, while operating cash flow and free cash flow show cash generated over the quarter. Together, the reported figures support a strong operating case, but they do not by themselves show how much of the growth reflects durable demand, how the outage affected customer behavior, or what investors are paying for future results.
What is the bull case for buying CRWD?
Growth and new business
Revenue and ARR both grew by more than 20% year over year in Q2 FY2027, while net new ARR grew faster still. If CrowdStrike can sustain customer additions and expansion, that would support the view that demand for its platform remains strong despite the outage.

Cash generation and outlook
The quarter’s free cash flow and the higher FY2027 net-new-ARR growth outlook give investors further evidence of operating momentum. CEO George Kurtz called it “the best quarter in CrowdStrike’s history” in the earnings release. That is management’s characterization; the reported financial figures are the more useful basis for evaluating it.
Why does the outage remain an investment risk?
In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, CrowdStrike said the incident had adversely affected results and could continue to affect key metrics and future-period results. The company said the precise impact was not reasonably quantifiable. Strong recent results therefore do not establish that all commercial effects have passed.

Sales, renewals and customer incentives
The filing describes delayed sales opportunities and longer sales cycles after the incident. CrowdStrike also used customer commitment packages that could include discounts, additional modules, professional services, flexible payment terms or subscription extensions. These arrangements may influence customer expansion and the timing of revenue, so reported growth should be considered alongside the possibility that some customers received incentives.
Legal, competitive and execution exposure
The filing describes incident-related legal proceedings and continuing legal and professional costs. It also warns that customers could defer or cancel purchases or fail to renew, partners could become less willing to promote CrowdStrike, competitors could benefit, and insurance might not cover all costs or claims. These are disclosed risks, not claims that each outcome will occur.

CrowdStrike says it is investing in resilience, testing and customer controls. Its filing also cautions that those enhancements may not be effective and that it cannot guarantee its products will be free of defects. Investors should weigh the corrective steps against that explicit uncertainty rather than treating the steps as a guarantee.

It supports a credible operating-growth thesis, but not a complete buy decision. The key question is whether growth, new bookings and cash generation can persist as incident-related sales friction and customer incentives fade, while legal, retention, competitive and product-quality risks remain. The latest reviewed filing leaves the incident’s total impact uncertain.
Best Value
Valuation is the missing piece for a price-based verdict. No current share price or valuation multiple is established here, so these operating results cannot show whether CRWD is cheap or expensive relative to its prospects. An August 2026 media valuation estimate is historical, not a current measure. Before deciding, investors need a current price and consistent forward estimates, then can compare the stock’s valuation with expected growth, profitability and cash flow. A peer comparison should also account for retention, new-customer contribution, outage-related exposure and competitive execution—not just headline growth.
