Costco chose Coca-Cola for its food-court fountain drinks again: after serving Pepsi since 2013, the warehouse chain began a planned return to Coke on July 1, 2025. That settles which supplier Costco selected, not whether customers agree that one cola tastes better. The change also does not, by itself, establish a change to the price of Costco’s hot dog-and-soda combo.
What Costco changed—and when
Costco’s food courts switched from Coca-Cola to Pepsi products in 2013. In January 2025, CEO Ron Vachris announced that the chain would return to Coca-Cola, according to a contemporaneous USA TODAY report republished by AOL on July 23, 2025.
The Coca-Cola Company said the rollout began July 1, 2025, and was expected to reach Costco warehouses in 14 countries, with completion anticipated by fall. The reported schedule describes a rollout plan; it does not establish that every location changed on the same date or confirm the current fountain setup at each warehouse.
What the change does—and does not—settle
Operationally, Costco selected Coca-Cola as its food-court fountain supplier again. That is not evidence of a public consensus on taste: the cited coverage does not include a preference survey or blind taste test. Whether Coke or Pepsi tastes better remains a matter of individual preference.

Coca-Cola described the return in promotional terms: “Costco’s legendary hot dog combo just got an ice-cold Coca-Cola upgrade,” as quoted in the July 23, 2025 USA TODAY report republished by AOL. That wording reflects the company’s characterization, not independent evidence that customers consider the change an upgrade.
Why did Costco switch back to Coke?
The cited report establishes the reversal but does not give an official Costco explanation for it. It does not substantiate claims that the decision came from a lower price, customer demand, a new contract, or a quality commitment. Without a stated reason, those explanations should not be treated as fact.

What Costco’s combo sales figure actually tells you
Costco Wholesale Corporation’s 2026 Annual Shareholders Meeting presentation, dated January 15, 2026, reports that the company sold 245.1 million hot dog-and-soda combos globally in FY2025. The figure counts combos, not individual sodas, and does not break sales down by Coke versus Pepsi. It is therefore a measure of the combo’s scale—not evidence of customer preference for either cola. The July 2025 announcement described a transition across 14 countries, but it is not a current warehouse-by-warehouse menu or equipment list. A particular food court’s available drinks may depend on its local rollout and menu; check that location’s current offerings if you need to know what is available before visiting.
