What does Costco charge for Gold Star membership?
Costco’s U.S. joining page lists Gold Star at $65 per year, plus applicable sales tax. The $20 shown alongside it is a Digital Costco Shop Card incentive, not a stated reduction of the membership fee. The fee and current incentive are listed on Costco’s joining page.
That means a qualifying new member should not assume they will pay only $20 at sign-up. The Shop Card is emailed within two weeks after successful sign-up and enrollment in auto renewal, according to Costco’s offer terms. It is a later store reward, not cash or an immediate discount on the fee.
Who qualifies for the $20 Shop Card?
Costco’s current offer is for eligible new Gold Star members. What does Gold Star membership include?
Gold Star is for personal-use shopping at Costco locations worldwide and online at Costco.com. It includes one additional household card at no extra charge for an eligible spouse, domestic partner, or immediate family member over 16 who lives at the same address. Is the Black Friday $20 membership claim confirmed?
No. A seasonal third-party Black Friday guide says the membership price was unchanged and that a then-current new-member offer could change before Black Friday; it does not establish the final Black Friday offer, its dates, or how a $20 figure was calculated. How to judge the actual first-year cost
Before treating a promotion as a $20 membership, distinguish the amount charged at enrollment from any reward received later. Check the offer’s dates, eligibility rules, auto-renewal requirement, and whether the reward can be used only at Costco.
