Costco members can order custom cakes online through two routes: the Costco app for warehouse pickup, or Costco Same-Day/Instacart for delivery where available. Pickup orders need at least three days’ notice and can be placed up to two weeks ahead; the Same-Day help page sets a separate 48-hour minimum for delivery cakes. Check your local service at checkout for the available designs, dates and terms.
Where Costco’s online custom-cake ordering is available
For warehouse pickup, open the Costco app’s Warehouse tab and look for Warehouse Ordering. Costco’s FAQ says you must be signed in and connected to a verified Costco membership. A separate delivery option is available through Costco Same-Day and the Instacart marketplace. Instacart announced on August 26, 2026, that custom cakes and party platters were available for delivery from Costco through those services. Its announcement describes coverage from warehouse locations nationwide, but that does not guarantee the service, a particular cake or a delivery time at every location. How to order a cake for warehouse pickup in the Costco app
- Open the Costco app, go to the Warehouse tab and find Warehouse Ordering.
- Sign in and confirm the account is connected to a verified Costco membership.
- Select the options shown for your chosen warehouse and pickup date. Costco does not state one universal price or publish a complete list of designs and flavors in its FAQ, so use the local order screen for current details.
- Place the order at least three days before pickup. The app route allows orders up to two weeks ahead.
- Keep the confirmation email. Costco says it includes the warehouse, pickup instructions, estimated total and details for modifying or canceling the order.
How to order a custom cake for delivery
In Costco Same-Day, go to Departments > Cakes and choose a cake marked Custom. Select from the displayed design, writing and color options, then check the delivery date and time at checkout. The Same-Day help page requires at least 48 hours’ lead time and says the cake arrives with the grocery order. Delivery availability and selection depend on the local service.
Instacart’s announcement identifies custom sheet cakes and 10-inch round cakes among the options, alongside party trays such as sandwich, shrimp and fruit platters. Order limits, changes and other restrictions
- App order quantity: Costco allows up to five cakes with the same customizations in one app order. Different designs require separate orders. For more than five cakes, contact the pickup warehouse.
- Pickup changes: For an app order, contact the selected warehouse and follow the instructions in your confirmation email.
- Delivery changes: Costco Same-Day says delivery orders cannot be rescheduled, and changes or cancellations are unavailable after midnight on the order date.
- Canada: Costco’s July 2026 FAQ says app cake ordering is not available at Canadian warehouses. It does not establish that the U.S. app process applies in Canada.
- Other items: Costco’s app FAQ says cookie trays and custom cakes are the bakery items available to order through that app at the time of publication. The later Instacart delivery announcement also includes party platters; those are offerings on a separate route.
Can you still order a cake in person?
Yes. Costco says its warehouses will continue to accept paper cake orders in store. If the app route is unavailable or you need an order that does not fit its stated limit, contact the warehouse handling the order.
