Is the Golden Island jerky from Costco recalled?
Yes. The recall concerns Golden Island fire-grilled pork jerky, Korean barbecue recipe, distributed to Costco and Sam’s Club retail locations nationwide. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported approximately 2,277,540 pounds recalled in 2025. “2 million pounds” is a rounded description of that figure; it is not an amount attributed separately to either retailer.
Nationwide distribution does not mean every Costco or Sam’s Club location stocked every affected package or lot.

Why was the jerky recalled?
The concern was possible metal pieces in the product. The Associated Press reported that consumer complaints involved wiry metal pieces and that the company attributed the metal to a conveyor belt used in production.
