Corum returned to Swiss ownership in 2025 through a management buyout led by its sales director, Haso Mehmedovic, and backed by Swiss investors. The company announced the deal on April 30; its history page says the buyout was finalized on May 5. The change restores Swiss ownership, but it is not evidence by itself of a commercial turnaround.

What happened to Corum?

Corum’s return to Swiss ownership was an ownership and leadership change, not a new brand launch. Its April 30, 2025, announcement described a management buyout led by Haso Mehmedovic, then International Sales Director, with support from a group of Swiss investors. Corum’s history page says the transaction was finalized May 5, 2025, and identifies Mehmedovic as the company’s Chairman and CEO after the buyout. Corum’s announcement and brand history provide those two distinct dates.

The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry says Hong Kong-listed Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group had owned Corum since 2013 and describes the buyout as a return to 100% Swiss ownership. That refers to the company’s ownership, not to a claim that every aspect of its business or supply chain is exclusively Swiss. The Federation’s May 15, 2025, account gives the prior ownership context.

Who is Haso Mehmedovic?

Mehmedovic was an internal leader rather than an outside buyer brought in to take over the brand. According to Corum’s account, he joined as a watchmaker in 2011, progressed through company roles, and later became International Sales Director before leading the buyout. Corum says he became Chairman and CEO following the transaction. This career history is the company’s account, not an independently documented biography.

Why does the Swiss ownership change matter?

For a watch company, ownership can affect who sets strategy and makes decisions about investment, product direction, and the brand’s future. In Corum’s case, the management buyout puts leadership in the hands of a senior executive with longstanding ties to the company, alongside Swiss investors. The available announcements establish that governance change; they do not establish what strategic or financial decisions will follow.

It is also important to separate a change in ownership from proof of business performance. No independent sales, production, market-share, or recovery figures are established in the sources cited here. The transaction marks a new ownership chapter, but it cannot yet be treated as evidence that Corum’s commercial fortunes have improved.

Corum’s history and identity

Corum says it was founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by René Bannwart and his uncle Gaston Ries. The 2025 buyout coincided with the company’s 70th anniversary, a milestone stated by Corum rather than a market measure.

In its own history, Corum presents the brand as shaped by unconventional design and technical experimentation. It points to the key emblem, the Admiral collection, coin watches, unusual dial materials, and later technical and artistic work. Those examples explain how the company describes its identity; they are brand claims, not an independent assessment of its products or market position.

What it means for Corum watches and collections

Corum’s official site names Admiral, Golden Bridge, and Heritage as collections. Its press-room listings include Admiral 36 and Admiral 39 references. Those listings show that the collections and references are represented in the company’s current official materials, but product availability and specifications can change. Check the exact reference on Corum’s site before relying on a model listing or comparing it with another watch.

The ownership change does not, on its own, establish new model specifications, pricing, availability, warranty terms, or service arrangements. Buyers considering a particular watch should assess its exact reference and the seller’s stated condition and warranty rather than infer product changes from the buyout.

What remains unknown

The cited announcements explain who led the buyout, when it was announced and finalized, and how Corum’s prior ownership changed. They do not provide independently verified evidence of future sales, production levels, investment plans, or a product roadmap. Until such information is published, the sound conclusion is limited: Corum is again Swiss-owned and has a new ownership structure led by its former international sales director.
