May corn and May soybeans each gained 9¾¢ on Thursday, March 5, 2026. May corn settled at $4.53½ per bushel, while May soybeans settled at $11.79¼. These are historical futures-contract settlements, not current prices or local cash bids.

March 5 closing prices

Successful Farming reported the following May futures settlements on March 5, 2026. The figures are contract prices per bushel and reflect that trading session, not a quote for another delivery month or a farm’s local cash market.

Contract Change Settlement
May corn Up 9¾¢ $4.53½ per bushel
May soybeans Up 9¾¢ $11.79¼ per bushel
May CBOT wheat Up 15½¢ $5.83¾ per bushel
May Kansas City wheat Up 20¢ $5.92½ per bushel
May Minneapolis wheat Up 10¼¢ $6.19½ per bushel

Successful Farming’s March 5 market report provides the settlements and market commentary.

What the report said about the rally

Stewart-Peterson Inc.’s Grain Market Insider newsletter attributed grain-market strength to higher crude oil. The Successful Farming report also gave an intraday snapshot: ahead of 3 p.m. Central Time, April crude oil was up $5.44 at $80.10 per barrel. That observation is a point-in-time quote, not the crude-oil settlement, and the report does not establish crude oil as the rally’s sole cause.

Naomi Blohm, senior market advisor with Total Farm Marketing, had identified $4.50 as resistance for May corn. The contract’s reported settlement was above that level. This describes the price action in the specific May contract; it is not a forecast or a guarantee that prices would hold above resistance.

How to read these figures

The reported gains refer specifically to May futures contracts on March 5, 2026. Futures prices can differ from cash bids because local basis, delivery terms, location, and timing affect what a seller may receive. The report gives no local cash bids, so these settlements alone do not determine a producer’s sale price.
