Construction Partners, Inc. said on October 5, 2026, that it acquired the asphalt manufacturing and construction assets of J.H. Strain & Sons, Inc. The deal adds two hot-mix asphalt plants and related crews and equipment serving the greater Abilene area to the company’s Texas operations. Construction Partners said more than 125 employees are joining its Lone Star Paving platform.

The acquisition covers J.H. Strain’s asphalt manufacturing and construction assets, including two hot-mix asphalt plants, crews and equipment. The operations serve the greater Abilene area in West Texas. Construction Partners did not identify the plants’ individual locations in its announcement.
How will the assets be integrated?
The acquired operations will become part of Lone Star Paving, Construction Partners’ Texas platform company. Construction Partners said more than 125 J.H. Strain employees are joining Lone Star. J.H. Strain was headquartered in Tye, Texas, and Ross and Kent Strain led the business, according to Investing.com.
How much did Construction Partners pay?

CEO Fred J. (Jule) Smith III said the plants, fleet and workforce give Lone Star a local presence to serve public and private infrastructure customers in greater Abilene and West Texas. He cited Abilene’s diversified economy and ongoing investment, including data-center-related developments, as part of the company’s rationale. Those are management’s stated views, not a forecast or evidence of the acquisition’s future financial performance.

Its network includes hot-mix asphalt plants, aggregate facilities and liquid asphalt terminals, and its work includes constructing and maintaining roadways and other surface infrastructure for public and private customers.
