Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Among the notable company campaigns around April 1, 2025, most of the striking product announcements were jokes—not products to add to your shopping list. A few campaigns wrapped a real product, a one-day offer or a limited-time perk in comic framing. The key distinction is what was actually available, where and when: a serious product in a joke campaign does not make the whole campaign literal.
How to read the 2025 company announcements
The examples below come from contemporaneous roundups and fact-checking, not an exhaustive count of every corporate post. A brand’s post establishes what it claimed or joked about; it does not, by itself, establish that a product shipped. The Washington Post’s April 1 fact-check is a useful U.S.-oriented check of fictional claims, while reporting by The Guardian, The Drum and Muse by Clios adds examples and details about real campaign offers.
For a reader deciding whether an announcement was serious, the useful question is not simply whether a brand participated in April Fools’ Day. Ask whether the underlying product existed, whether the offer was real, and whether its dates and geography have passed.
Fictional products and services
These were campaign gags, not ordinary purchase options. The Washington Post identified several as unreal in its April 1, 2025 fact-check.

- Metro Gondola: a fanciful transportation announcement.
- BODYARMOR sports shampoo: a comic crossover, not a confirmed personal-care product.
- Nutella BnB: a fictional hospitality concept.
Other reported gags played with everyday products and services. The Guardian’s April 2 roundup included Rascals’ singing nappies, Birds Eye’s Potato Waffholes, Hyundai’s app-summoned Mobilet toilet, Santander bike sidecars for dogs and John Lewis dog “pawsonal shopping.” The Drum’s April 1 campaign roundup also listed IKEA’s supposedly impossible-to-get-lost, two-kilometer store, Duolingo’s five-year cruise and Cadbury Creme Egg “On The Goo” sachets.
Muse by Clios’ April 1 roundup featured Reese’s Chocolate Bread and the Manscaped/Dude Wipes “Dude Man 2.0.” These are examples of fictional product extensions in campaign creative, not evidence of regular retail stock.

Real products, offers and perks presented with comic framing
Some campaigns contained a real item or promotion. That does not turn every part of the joke into a literal claim, and the offers below were time- or location-specific.
| Company or campaign | What was real | Scope and reader takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| Husqvarna’s UFO-themed reveal | The Automower iQ Series is a real mower line. | The UFO story was the joke. Husqvarna’s U.S. Automower iQ Series page lists wire-free EPOS navigation and the 410 iQ for small-to-medium lawns up to 0.5 acres. That U.S. listing confirms the product, not the fictional UFO framing or current stock and pricing. |
| City Cruises UK fragrances | The Guardian reported two city-inspired fragrances as real campaign items. | Its account described an Ouse-inspired scent with “woody notes” and a Thames version as “earthy.” These were limited-time campaign details reported in the U.K.; the report does not establish that either fragrance remains available. |
| Whisker Cat Pu / No. 2 candle | Muse by Clios reported the candle as a real order perk. | It was included with Litter-Robot orders placed on April 1, 2025. This was a one-day, order-conditioned promotion—not proof of general candle availability. |
Tom’s Guide also described Husqvarna’s campaign as promoting a real mower line rather than a fictional product: its April Fools’ Day 2025 tech-prank roundup makes the distinction between the genuine Automower and the UFO-themed joke. For a separate City Napper mattress-and-poncho gag, Tom’s Guide repeated The Odd Company’s claim of a 250% increase in Google searches for “why do I want to sleep all the time.” That figure is attributed to the company, not an independently verified search-trend statistic, so it should not be treated as measured proof of campaign reach.

When an April Fools’ concept becomes real later
Some ideas outlive the day’s joke, but the timeline matters. Tom’s Guide says NVIDIA’s Project G-Assist grew from an earlier April Fools’ concept; it was not a 2025 launch. NVIDIA’s current official Project G-Assist page describes real software: “Project G-Assist is an AI assistant powered by your GeForce RTX™ PC that helps you tune, control, and optimize your system.” The page establishes the software’s current description, not that the 2025 prank itself announced a shipping product.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the distinction means if you wanted to buy something
- Fictional gag: Treat the announcement as campaign creative, not a product listing.
- Real product inside a joke: Verify the product on the manufacturer’s current page; do not assume the joke’s extra claims are real.
- Limited-time offer: Keep the date and conditions attached. The reported Whisker perk was tied to orders on April 1, while the City Cruises fragrances were described as limited-time campaign items.
- Idea that became real later: Check the later product’s own page and timeline. NVIDIA’s software is real now, but its prank origin predates 2025.
For Husqvarna, the current U.S. product page is the relevant place to check model details, pricing and availability before making a purchase decision; those details can change. For the reported one-day and limited-time offers, the cited 2025 coverage establishes what was reported then, not present availability.
