The guarantee can make budgeting easier, but it is not necessarily a lock on your entire bill. Your address, eligibility, selected speed, autopay method, taxes, fees, equipment and later plan changes all matter.
The current offer shown by Xfinity highlights 300 Mbps service for qualifying new customers. Check the address-specific order summary—not the historical launch headline—before deciding.
What Comcast originally announced
Comcast’s April 15, 2025 announcement introduced five-year pricing for new Xfinity Internet packages. The launch release advertised plans starting at $55 per month and described unlimited data, an Xfinity Gateway and no annual contract.
The $55 figure was a historical “starting at” price, not a universal 2026 rate. Current pricing and eligibility vary by address and promotion; Xfinity’s current deals page is the appropriate place to begin an address check.

What Xfinity advertises now
As of August 18, 2026, Xfinity’s current guarantee page displays an offer centered on:
- 300 Mbps internet
- Unlimited data
- An Xfinity Gateway
- Advanced Security
- No annual contract
- One Xfinity Mobile Select line free for one year, subject to separate eligibility and restrictions
The page says the offer is for new Xfinity Internet customers and is not available in every situation. Enter your address to see the actual plan, price and terms offered to your household.
This offer sits within Comcast’s broader June 2025 move toward national “everyday price” packages. Its June 26, 2025 announcement described four national internet tiers, bundled equipment and one- or five-year guarantees available without contracts. That did not automatically convert every older plan or account.

What the five-year lock protects
The safest interpretation is that the qualifying plan’s stated monthly internet rate is held for five years under the offer terms. It should not be described as a guarantee that every component of your bill stays unchanged.
| Usually covered | May still change |
|---|---|
| The qualifying monthly internet rate | Taxes and governmental or regulatory fees |
| The selected plan price during the guarantee period | Installation charges |
| The stated five-year period | Optional television, mobile, security or support services |
| Equipment additions or changes | |
| Credits, promotions or discounts that expire | |
| Charges caused by changing speed or migrating plans |
Xfinity’s terms specifically say installation, taxes, fees and other applicable charges are extra and may change. They also require paperless billing and automatic payment from a stored bank account for the displayed terms; otherwise an additional $10 per month applies. Save the final order confirmation so you can identify exactly which amount is guaranteed.
Who qualifies?
The public offer identifies new Xfinity Internet customers as eligible. “New customer” can be narrower than an existing subscriber asking for a different speed or promotion. Existing customers should not assume that an upgrade, retention offer or account change automatically provides five-year pricing. Community reports describe existing-customer eligibility disputes, but your written account terms—not a forum post—control.
Rank #3
- Compatible with major cable internet providers including Xfinity and Cox. NOT compatible with Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH and any bundled voice service. Best for cable provider plans up to 800Mbps.
Before ordering, verify:
- Whether Xfinity serves your address and displays the guarantee there
- Whether your household recently had Xfinity Internet
- Whether a move creates a new qualification or ends an existing offer
- Whether changing speed, adding television or mobile changes the guaranteed rate
Ask for the guaranteed rate and its start date in writing and keep the order summary as a PDF or screenshot.
Is it a contract?
No annual contract is required for the advertised offer. Comcast says customers can cancel without an early-termination penalty. A price guarantee and a term contract are different: the former stabilizes a qualifying rate, while the latter requires staying for a specified period. Cancelling still ends your service and therefore ends the practical benefit of the guarantee.

True monthly cost = guaranteed internet rate + taxes and fees + non-included equipment or services + any payment-method surcharge after discounts.
Compare both your first bill and a normal bill after temporary credits expire. Confirm the cost with and without a stored-bank-account autopay method, installation charges, Gateway or other equipment charges, and any mobile or television promotion. The address-specific checkout total controls if it differs from an advertisement.
Common billing and account problems
“My bill increased even though I have a lock.”
Compare the old and new bills line by line. A fee or tax may have changed, an autopay condition may have been lost, a promotional credit may have expired, or you may have changed speed, equipment or optional services. The guarantee may apply only to the internet component.

“I am already an Xfinity customer.”
The current public page says “new Xfinity Internet customers.” Do not assume an existing account qualifies; ask Xfinity to identify the exact offer attached to your account and obtain it in writing.
“Checkout costs more than the headline.”
Different address, speed tier, customer status, installation, taxes, fees, unavailable promotions or payment-method requirements can explain the difference. Use the final order summary as the authoritative price.
“Can I upgrade and keep the lock?”
Do not assume so. Treat a speed or plan change as potentially replacing the original guarantee unless the new order explicitly preserves it. Nothing in the cited public material establishes automatic renewal after five years or after a plan change.

| Provider | Technology and guarantee information | Key qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Xfinity | Wired cable or fiber-powered access; current page highlights a five-year guarantee and 300 Mbps offer | New-customer, address and plan restrictions; taxes, fees and some charges are outside the lock |
| Verizon 5G Home | Fixed wireless; guarantee length varies by plan, including a five-year lock on at least one higher tier | Speeds depend on signal and capacity; terms exclude certain equipment charges, discounts, promotions and third-party services |
| T-Mobile 5G Home | Fixed wireless; eligible Rely, Amplified, All-In and AWAY plans receive a five-year guarantee | Eligibility can depend on a qualifying voice line, AutoPay, plan and address; taxes, fees, add-ons and upgrades are excluded |
| Local fiber | Often offers symmetrical uploads and low latency; terms are provider-specific | Compare availability, installation, equipment, expiration of promotions and the all-in bill |
Verizon’s detailed terms are on its official page. T-Mobile explains exclusions in its price-lock FAQ. Fixed wireless can be excellent at one address and inconsistent at another, while fiber may offer materially better uploads and latency even without a five-year guarantee.

Potentially good fit
- You expect to stay at the address for several years.
- Xfinity is the best wired option available.
- Predictable pricing, unlimited data and included equipment matter more than switching flexibility.
- The guaranteed rate is competitive after taxes, fees and required payment conditions.
Potentially poor fit
- A comparable fiber plan offers symmetrical speeds or lower latency.
- You expect to move or change plans soon.
- Your work, gaming or cloud-backup needs require stronger uploads than the address-specific Xfinity plan provides.
- The apparent savings depend mainly on temporary mobile or autopay credits.
- You need to use your own modem and router, or are an existing customer who cannot qualify.
Checklist before you order
- Record the exact plan name and download speed.
- Record the guaranteed monthly internet rate and guarantee start date.
- Confirm the five-year duration in the order terms.
- Check whether paperless billing and bank-account autopay are required.
- Calculate the price without the qualifying payment method.
- Identify Gateway, equipment and installation charges.
- List taxes, regulatory fees and other non-guaranteed charges.
- Confirm unlimited data is included.
- Separate temporary mobile or television credits from the ordinary bill.
- Ask what happens if you change speed, equipment or plan.
- Ask what happens when the five-year period ends.
- Confirm the offer is available at your address.
- Confirm whether Xfinity considers your account new or existing.
- Save the final order summary and terms.
The Bottom Line
Xfinity’s five-year price guarantee is real and can provide useful predictability, but it protects a qualifying internet rate—not automatically your entire bill. Verify the address-specific plan, eligibility, autopay condition, taxes, fees and change-of-plan rules. Then compare the all-in cost and upload performance with fiber, Verizon 5G Home and T-Mobile 5G Home before committing.
