Coinbase says Coinbase Pro will return at the end of 2026, but it has not launched as of Oct. 7, 2026. Separately, Coinbase says its Deribit integration is complete and the combined derivatives platform is now called Coinbase Global Exchange. The two developments are related, but they are not the same product change: retail perpetual traders continue using Coinbase.com or the Coinbase app, while Coinbase International Exchange institutional clients were migrated to Deribit on Oct. 1.
What Coinbase announced—and what is already complete
Coinbase’s Oct. 7, 2026 announcement says Coinbase Pro is coming back at the end of this year as a professional-grade platform for spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities. Coinbase has not provided an exact launch date or confirmed that the new platform will reproduce the retired Coinbase Pro interface, fees, account model or API workflow. Treat the return and instrument list as a company roadmap, not a currently available service. Coinbase’s announcement is the primary source for the plan.
The separate Deribit integration is complete, according to Coinbase. The company calls the combined global derivatives platform Coinbase Global Exchange, and its help page says the International Exchange and Deribit transition was completed Oct. 1, 2026. Coinbase describes the integration as expanding its global derivatives offering; the name does not mean every Coinbase customer has been moved to a new account or interface. Coinbase Help explains the transition and affected customer groups.
What Coinbase Global Exchange means for different customers
Retail Coinbase customers trading perpetuals
Coinbase says retail perpetual trading remains on Coinbase.com or in the Coinbase app, including Coinbase Advanced. The infrastructure transition was automatic for these users; they were not told to open a Deribit account for this change.

For open positions, Coinbase says it settled them at mark price and recreated them at the settlement price, with the aim of preserving the economic position. Coinbase says it charged no trading or settlement fees for this transition. Users may see multiple trade records, an average entry price that has reset, or a temporary small difference in displayed profit and loss. Those record and display changes do not, on their own, establish that the underlying economic position changed.
Coinbase International Exchange institutional clients
Coinbase says institutional accounts, balances and positions moved to Deribit on Oct. 1. The process included cancelling open perpetual orders, settling positions at mark price, transferring resulting balances and recreating positions at the settlement price. Institutions should follow the account-specific instructions they received: Coinbase flags API endpoint changes, margin-mode choices and differences in historical reporting. Its institutional client FAQs cover operational details.

Existing Deribit clients
Coinbase says existing Deribit clients retain Deribit as their home account and gain access to Coinbase spot markets and additional perpetual contracts. That is Coinbase’s description of the integration benefits; the announcement does not establish that every market or feature is available to every account or jurisdiction.
Prime clients
Coinbase says Prime relationships are unchanged. It expects eligible US Prime clients to gain crypto options in Q4 2026, but that is a stated expectation, not confirmation that options are available to all Prime customers today.

Is Coinbase Pro available now, and can users trade options?
As of Oct. 7, 2026, Coinbase Pro’s return is planned for the end of the year, with no exact date announced. Coinbase has not explained how the relaunched Pro will relate to Coinbase Advanced accounts or whether its fees, interface, supported jurisdictions or trading tools will match the former product. The stated product scope includes spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities, but those should be read as planned features until Coinbase confirms launch and access details.
Options, spot margin and unified portfolios are also described by Coinbase as forthcoming, with rollout in the coming weeks. Coinbase Help says options are coming for eligible Coinbase users and expected for eligible US Prime clients in Q4. Availability may depend on account eligibility and jurisdiction; the announcement does not support a claim of universal access. Check Coinbase’s current help information for updates.

What Coinbase’s volume and open-interest figures show
Coinbase’s Oct. 7 announcement says the integrated platform provides access to more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of Sept. 30, 2026, and reports more than $1 trillion in trading volume “last year.” These are company-published figures; the announcement does not provide an independent audit. The volume figure refers to the prior year as characterized in the 2026 announcement, not a guaranteed level of future activity.
Do not conflate those figures with Coinbase’s earlier acquisition announcement. In August 2025, Coinbase reported Deribit trading volume above $185 billion in July 2025 and approximately $60 billion in platform open interest at that time. Those are different metrics and an earlier snapshot. Coinbase Investor Relations published the 2025 figures.

Risk and eligibility matter
Derivatives can expose traders to substantial losses, including losses exceeding the funds deposited in an account. Coinbase’s product access also varies by customer type and jurisdiction. For example, Coinbase says its Deribit by Coinbase institutional application is for eligible non-US institutions in select jurisdictions, while US institutions are prohibited from that specific access route. That restriction is about the named institutional route; it should not be generalized into a claim about every Coinbase product or customer.
Before acting on the integration, customers should identify whether they are retail perpetual traders, International Exchange institutional clients, existing Deribit customers or Prime clients, then use the relevant Coinbase notices and account documentation. Institutional users should verify their current API endpoints and reporting workflow rather than assume the old International Exchange setup still applies. Coinbase’s onboarding page describes the institutional access route and its limits: Getting started with a Coinbase by Deribit account.
