Coca-Cola raised its regular dividend for the 64th consecutive year in February 2026, setting the quarterly payment at $0.53 per share, or $2.12 annualized. That record makes KO worth evaluating for income investors, but it does not promise future payments or establish that the stock is a good buy at today’s price. The often-quoted 2.5% yield cannot be verified without the share price and date used to calculate it.
What Coca-Cola’s 64-year dividend record means
In February 2026, Coca-Cola announced a quarterly dividend increase from $0.51 to $0.53 per share, about 4%. The new rate equals $2.12 per share over a full year, up from $2.04 in 2025. The company described it as its 64th consecutive annual increase. (Coca-Cola, February 2026)
The company’s July 2026 Form 10-Q reports that the board approved the $0.53 quarterly rate again. That dividend was payable October 1, 2026, to shareholders of record on September 15, 2026. (Coca-Cola, July 2026 Form 10-Q)
A long history of increases can be useful evidence when evaluating a company’s approach to returning cash to shareholders. It is not a guarantee that future dividends will continue to rise, or even remain unchanged. Coca-Cola’s 2025 Form 10-K says future declarations and payments depend on factors including earnings, financial condition, business-development needs and regulatory considerations, and are at the board’s discretion. (Coca-Cola, 2025 Form 10-K, filed February 20, 2026)

Is Coca-Cola’s yield really 2.5%?
Yield changes when the share price changes. To estimate the current yield, divide the annualized dividend by the stock price on a stated date. With a $2.12 annualized dividend, the calculation is $2.12 divided by the share price. Because the sources establishing Coca-Cola’s dividend do not establish the price used for the 2.5% figure, treat that percentage as unverified rather than a current yield.
The result is a forward-looking estimate based on the annualized rate and the selected share price; it is not a promise of the return an investor will receive. The actual cash paid depends on the company declaring and paying dividends, and the yield calculation does not account for changes in the share price.

What the financial history says—and doesn’t say
Coca-Cola’s 2026 proxy statement reports rising dividends per share from 2021 through 2026, alongside 2025 earnings per share of $3.04. These figures provide context, but by themselves they do not establish whether the stock is attractively valued or whether future dividends are secure. (Coca-Cola, 2026 Proxy Statement)
| Year | Dividend per share |
|---|---|
| 2021 | $1.68 |
| 2022 | $1.76 |
| 2023 | $1.84 |
| 2024 | $1.94 |
| 2025 | $2.04 |
| 2026 | $2.12 |
The company also reported returning $8.8 billion to shareholders in dividends during 2025. A large past distribution shows the scale of that year’s cash returns, not what the company will pay in future years. (Coca-Cola, February 2026)

Risks to weigh before buying KO for income
Coca-Cola’s 2025 Form 10-K identifies risks that may matter to its business and its ability to sustain shareholder distributions. These are company-disclosed exposures, not predictions that any particular risk will materialize.
- Health and consumer concerns: The company discusses consumer, public-health and government concerns about obesity and chronic disease.
- Economic and geopolitical conditions: Its filing discusses broader economic and geopolitical conditions, inflation, interest rates, commodities, trade policy and foreign exchange, among other risks.
- Dividend decisions: Earnings, financial condition, business needs and regulatory considerations can affect whether the board declares future dividends.
These factors make the dividend streak only one part of an income assessment. Investors should consider the company’s capacity to fund distributions and the risks to its business, rather than treating a long record as a substitute for analysis.

How to decide whether KO fits your portfolio
There is no universal answer: the fit depends on your goals, finances and the price you would pay. Before buying, consider:
- Your income goal: Are you seeking cash income now, growth in income over time, or total return? A dividend-focused holding may not meet every goal equally well.
- Time horizon and risk tolerance: A company’s dividend history does not remove the risk of a falling share price or a change in future distributions.
- Concentration: Check whether you already have substantial exposure to Coca-Cola, consumer staples or a small number of individual companies.
- Valuation at purchase: A rising dividend does not automatically make a stock reasonably priced. Consider the price you would pay and the return you expect.
- Tax circumstances: The treatment of investment income depends on your circumstances and applicable tax rules.
If comparing Coca-Cola with other income investments, use the same date and the same measures for each: yield, dividend growth, payout relative to earnings and cash generation, balance-sheet capacity, business risks, valuation and potential total return. The company’s disclosures establish its dividend history and identified risks, but do not establish your personal suitability or guarantee an investment outcome.
