What CNCF 2025 sponsorship covered
CNCF sponsorship was event marketing purchased by an organization seeking visibility and engagement with cloud-native communities. The official 2025 event lineup announcement listed five global KubeCon + CloudNativeCon events and 30 planned Kubernetes Community Days (KCDs). Those were opportunities for the 2025 calendar, not evidence that the same packages remain available in 2026.
CNCF describes KubeCon + CloudNativeCon as its flagship conference. Sponsorship at a flagship event can provide broader exposure, while a co-located event may offer a more focused audience centered on a CNCF project, a layer of the CNCF landscape, or an ecosystem vertical. The available official material does not establish a complete, side-by-side 2025 cost comparison between those formats.
What the prospectus listed—and why prices need care
The Linux Foundation/CNCF 2025/2026 Sponsorship Prospectus, dated June 2025, describes Diamond, Platinum, Gold, and Startup/nonprofit tiers. Extracted prospectus details include event recognition, logo placement on signage, the schedule and event webpage, complimentary passes, and, for some tiers, tabletop sponsor space with lead retrieval.

The document’s mixed-year title and event-specific terms make it unsafe to treat figures in its extracted text as a universal 2025 rate card. A quoted amount should be tied to the specific event, geography, edition, and prospectus version. Confirm inventory and inclusions directly before budgeting; tier names alone do not establish what a particular package provides.
Sponsorship and CNCF membership are separate costs
Buying event sponsorship is distinct from joining CNCF. CNCF’s membership page lists organizational membership tiers and dues, along with member benefits that include discounts on KubeCon + CloudNativeCon sponsorship. A membership discount may affect an eligible event package, but membership dues are not the sponsorship price. Compare the two costs separately and confirm whether the discount applies to the event and tier under consideration.

Startup sponsorship: published eligibility and offer
CNCF’s Startup Program page describes a 50% booth-price discount and priority placement associated with a Startup Sponsorship. It lists these eligibility conditions:
- Fewer than 50 employees.
- Early-stage status.
- A cloud-native focus.
- Commitment to open-source principles and community engagement.
- A product or service aligned with CNCF’s mission.
The program page directs applicants to the CNCF Membership page and the Startup sponsorship tier. Its discount and placement language is a statement of the program page, not a guarantee for a future event; confirm current eligibility, availability, and event applicability with CNCF.

What the Japan 2025 figures do—and do not—show
CNCF’s KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Japan 2025 Transparency Report records 42 unique sponsors and reports that 85% of attendees visited the Solutions Showcase. These figures apply to that Japan event alone. They provide event-specific evidence about sponsor participation and showcase visits; they do not establish results for other CNCF events or measure an individual sponsor’s return on investment.
The Japan event announcement framed the conference as an investment in the local community. That context explains the event’s regional focus, but it is not a statement of sponsorship benefits or a promise of sponsor performance. How to evaluate a CNCF sponsorship package
For a 2025 package or a comparison with a later event, use the event-specific prospectus and confirm each material term rather than comparing tier names. Check:
- Event, geography, and edition, including whether the opportunity is a flagship conference or a co-located event.
- Audience or project focus and the available sponsor inventory.
- Whether the package includes a tabletop or booth, lead retrieval, and the stated number of complimentary passes.
- Logo placement, recognition, and any speaking or other visibility benefits expressly listed.
- Eligibility requirements and whether a CNCF membership discount applies.
- The document’s date and version, plus the final price and terms confirmed for that particular event.
The 2025 lineup is historical. For current availability or terms, use CNCF’s events and membership channels rather than assuming a 2025 offer carries forward.
