CMC Markets launched CMC Invest in Singapore on 25 September 2023 as a share-investing platform for Singapore and Southeast Asian investors. It is separate from CMC Markets’ leveraged CFD business: CMC Invest customers buy and own shares or ETFs using their own capital, while CFD customers speculate on price movements without owning the underlying asset.

The service remains available in Singapore. However, CMC Markets is also preparing a broader multi-asset platform, so older launch claims about products, fees and a planned “super app” need to be read against the platform’s current status.

What CMC Invest is

CMC Invest is operated in Singapore by CMC Markets Singapore Invest Pte. Ltd. It offers access to shares, ETFs and REITs across 15 markets, including Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom. CMC advertises desktop and mobile platforms, real-time market data, charts and analysis, and Singapore-based support. These details are listed on CMC Markets Singapore’s trading platforms page.

The current account-opening page says investors can trade more than 35,000 shares in domestic and international markets. That figure is a current marketing claim for CMC Invest and should not be confused with CMC Markets’ separate global multi-asset announcement, which referred to more than 12,000 global shares and ETFs. See CMC Invest’s account-opening page and CMC Markets’ global multi-asset announcement.

CMC Invest is not the same as CMC Markets’ CFD platform

The names are closely related, but the products work differently, as explained in CMC Markets Singapore’s FAQ:

Feature CMC Invest CMC Markets CFD business
Product type Shares, ETFs and REITs Contracts for difference and other leveraged products
Ownership You own the shares or ETFs purchased You do not own the underlying asset
Funding Your own investment capital Often involves leverage and margin
Primary use Long-term or unleveraged investing Speculating on price movements
Singapore entity and licence CMC Markets Singapore Invest Pte. Ltd.; CMS licence 101320 CMC Markets Singapore Pte. Ltd.; CMS licence 100063 for its relevant activities

Investors should therefore check which site, application and legal entity they are using. A CMC Invest account is not simply another name for a CFD account.

Regulatory details

CMC Markets Singapore Invest Pte. Ltd. has UEN 202217639M and holds MAS Capital Markets Services licence 101320. Its stated regulated activities include dealing in securities, units in a collective investment scheme and exchange-traded derivatives contracts, as well as custodial services. These details appear on CMC Invest’s company details page and the MAS Financial Institutions Directory.

Its registered address is 2 Central Boulevard, IOI Central Boulevard Towers, #25-03, Singapore 018916. These details are separate from those of CMC Markets Singapore Pte. Ltd., the entity associated with the CFD business.

What changed in 2026?

On 5 May 2026, CMC Markets announced plans to merge CMC Markets Singapore Invest Pte. Ltd. into CMC Markets Singapore Pte. Ltd. The stated objective was to prepare for a Singapore multi-asset platform combining investing and trading, according to CMC Markets’ restructuring announcement.

The announcement did not say that CMC Invest had already been replaced. It specifically said that existing CMC Invest clients could continue using the stockbroking platform and that there would be “no change to the CMC Invest stockbroking platform” as a result of the restructuring.

As of 8 August 2026, CMC’s Singapore website still lists CMC Invest separately from the CMC Multi-Asset Platform. The platform selector labels the multi-asset service “Coming Soon”. Its product page lists CFD shares and ETFs, share baskets, commodities, forex, indices, treasuries and cryptocurrencies as available or supported, while options and cash equities and ETFs are marked “coming soon”. No fixed Singapore launch date was given.

That means the multi-asset platform should be treated as a planned or transitioning product, not as proof that the existing CMC Invest service has disappeared.

Markets and products available through CMC Invest

CMC Invest currently promotes, according to its Singapore promotions page and trading platforms page:

  • Shares listed in Singapore and international markets
  • Exchange-traded funds
  • Real estate investment trusts, or REITs
  • Access to 15 markets
  • Web and mobile investing platforms
  • Charts, analysis and real-time market data

The 2023 launch announcement referred to listed equities, ETFs, options and futures, with some products described as planned or forthcoming. The current Singapore-facing CMC Invest pages focus on shares, ETFs and REITs. Investors should not assume that options or futures are currently available in an ordinary CMC Invest account merely because they appeared in the original launch material.

Fees: “no platform fee” does not mean every trade is free

CMC Invest currently says it charges no platform fee, maintenance fee, inactivity fee, deposit fee or withdrawal fee. But the account can still generate trading costs. The figures below are from CMC Invest’s fees page and are subject to change without notice.

Charge or allowance Current published position
Invest tier free Singapore trades 5 per month
Invest tier free US, UK, Hong Kong and Canadian trades 10 per month
Platform, maintenance and inactivity fees None currently stated
Deposit and withdrawal fees None currently stated
Singapore clearing fee 0.0325% of the transaction amount
SGX trading fee 0.0075% of the transaction amount
GST 9% on commission fees outside the free-trade allowance
Currency conversion May apply when trading in a currency different from the account’s base currency

Trades beyond the relevant monthly free-trade allowance may incur commission, and Singapore-listed securities can also attract the exchange-related charges above. CMC says its fee information is subject to change without notice, so investors should check the live fee schedule before placing an order.

CMC states that it waives normal Hong Kong stamp duty and other listed trading charges for Hong Kong shares. That waiver does not mean all markets are free from taxes, exchange charges or currency-conversion costs. See CMC Invest’s fees page.

Account-opening timing and practical conditions

The public account-opening information gives two timings that are easy to overlook:

  1. Free live US and Singapore market data becomes available after the account is upgraded to the Invest tier, normally within five business days of opening the account.
  2. A promotional free share is issued within five business days after 90 days of account opening, provided the promotion’s conditions are satisfied.

These are operational timelines, not guarantees that apply to every applicant or promotion. Eligibility requirements can differ, and current promotional terms should be read before relying on a reward.

How to assess CMC Invest before opening an account

  1. Confirm the product. Use the CMC Invest service if you want to buy shares, ETFs or REITs. Do not open a CFD account by mistake if you are looking for ownership of the underlying investment.
  2. Check the current market list. “15 markets” is a broad headline; confirm that the exchange and security you want are supported.
  3. Calculate costs beyond the allowance. Include commission, 9% GST where applicable, Singapore exchange charges and any foreign-exchange conversion cost.
  4. Check data access. Live US and Singapore data is tied to the Invest-tier upgrade, which the account-opening page says normally takes up to five business days.
  5. Read the live terms. Fees and promotions can change. The 2023 Tesla and ETF launch promotions should not be treated as current offers; check CMC Invest’s current promotions page for current offers and conditions.
  6. Keep the platform transition in perspective. CMC’s planned multi-asset service may eventually combine investing and trading, but the Singapore website still presents CMC Invest as an active platform and the multi-asset platform as coming soon.

What the launch means for Singapore investors

CMC Invest gives Singapore investors another route to internationally listed shares, ETFs and REITs, with a fee structure built around a monthly free-trade allowance rather than unlimited commission-free dealing. Its main points of comparison with other brokers are the number of markets, the available securities, currency-conversion costs, custody arrangements, market-data conditions and what happens after the free trades have been used.

The 2026 corporate restructuring is more significant for CMC’s future product design than for the immediate operation of an existing CMC Invest account. CMC is positioning itself to combine investing and leveraged trading, but the public Singapore pages do not support saying that this combined platform has already replaced CMC Invest.

FAQ

When did CMC Markets launch CMC Invest in Singapore?

CMC Markets launched CMC Invest in Singapore on 25 September 2023. It was introduced as a separate online and mobile investment platform for Singapore and Southeast Asian investors.

Do CMC Invest customers own the shares they buy?

Yes. CMC Invest is the investing service, where customers buy shares or ETFs using their own capital and own the purchased assets. This differs from CFDs, where customers speculate on price movements without owning the underlying asset.

Is CMC Invest still available in Singapore?

Yes. As of 8 August 2026, CMC’s Singapore website still lists CMC Invest as an active platform for shares, ETFs and REITs across 15 markets. The separate multi-asset platform is labelled “Coming Soon”.

Does CMC Invest charge commissions?

It can. Customers in the Invest tier currently receive five free Singapore trades per month and 10 free trades per month for US, UK, Hong Kong and Canadian markets. Trades outside the allowance may incur commissions, GST and other applicable costs.

Are options and futures available through CMC Invest in Singapore?

They should not be assumed to be available to ordinary CMC Invest users. Although the 2023 launch material mentioned options and futures as planned or forthcoming products, current consumer-facing pages focus on shares, ETFs and REITs. The multi-asset page currently marks options as coming soon.

Has CMC Invest been replaced by CMC’s multi-asset platform?

No. CMC announced a corporate merger in May 2026 to prepare for a multi-asset platform, but said there would be no change to the existing CMC Invest stockbroking platform. The current Singapore website continues to show both platforms separately.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: CMC Invest is a live Singapore stockbroking platform launched in 2023, not the same thing as CMC Markets’ CFD service. It currently focuses on shares, ETFs and REITs across 15 markets, with no stated platform or inactivity fee but with limited free-trade allowances, commissions outside those allowances, GST, exchange charges and possible currency-conversion costs. CMC’s broader multi-asset platform is a future-facing development; it has not yet replaced CMC Invest on the Singapore website.
