Is the Citizens Bank app down right now?
The official information available at 2026-10-08 01:41 UTC did not establish whether Citizens Bank, N.A.’s app was experiencing a widespread outage. Citizens describes its Update Center as the place to find technology and operations updates, but the available page content did not show a dated current app incident. That is not confirmation either that the app is down or that every service is working.
Check the Update Center for a current notice before treating a problem as a bank-wide outage. Make sure you are checking Citizens Bank, N.A.; other banks with “Citizens” in their names have separate systems, status information, and support contacts.
What to try if the app is not working
- Check your connection. Confirm that your phone has internet access, then try again. Citizens lists internet access as a mobile banking requirement; a connection problem is only one possible cause of an app error.
- Check your device’s operating system. Citizens lists iOS 16 or later and Android 9.0 or later as its minimum mobile banking requirements. See the bank’s Site Requirements for those requirements.
- Update the app. If automatic updates did not install the latest version, look for an update in the App Store or Google Play. Citizens says deleting and reinstalling the app is not necessary just to update it. Its mobile banking app guidance explains the update process.
- Try Citizens Bank Online. If you can access online banking in a browser, that can help you determine whether the problem is limited to the app. Citizens says the app provides access to many of the same services as online banking, but an app problem does not establish whether any particular feature is available during a disruption.
If you cannot log in
Citizens mobile banking uses the same User ID and password as Citizens Bank Online. If you have forgotten either, use the “Trouble logging in?” flow on the online banking login page, rather than repeatedly guessing credentials. Citizens’ Mobile & Online Banking FAQ lists 1-800-656-6561 for online banking assistance.

Check an interrupted payment or transfer before trying again
Do not resubmit a transaction just because the app stopped responding. Citizens says a transaction with a confirmation number has been completed. If you did not receive a confirmation number, regain access and check Pending Payments and Transfers first; re-enter the transaction only if it is absent from pending activity. This check can help prevent an accidental duplicate.
