Citi’s $113,000 Bitcoin target is a forecast, not evidence that buyers will keep pushing the price higher. The latest cited data is mixed: a broad estimate suggests billions of dollars of buying across several sources, but trading activity was weak relative to recent history and U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF flows reversed sharply from one day to the next.
What Citi’s $113,000 Bitcoin target means
Contemporaneous coverage reported that Citi raised its 12-month Bitcoin target to $113,000 from $82,000 on Oct. 1, 2026. Using CryptoSlate’s Oct. 7 reference price of $83,085, reaching the target would have required an increase of about 36%. The target was about 10.5% below the previous record of $126,198.07 cited in that analysis. These are dated comparisons, not current live prices. CryptoSlate’s Oct. 7 analysis reported the figures.
At a rounded circulating supply of 20.09 million BTC, a $113,000 price implies a quoted market capitalization of roughly $2.27 trillion—about $601 billion above the valuation at the cited reference price. That difference does not mean $601 billion in cash would need to enter the market. Market capitalization reprices all circulating coins at the hypothetical price; the price itself depends on trading and on how willing holders are to sell.
What the recent buying data shows
The indicators measure different things, so they should not be treated as interchangeable proof of demand.

- SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
- NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
- 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
- BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.

| Combined spot-exchange and U.S. spot ETF trading volume | About $6.8 billion a day on a seven-day average, in Glassnode’s Oct. 7 analysis; below levels seen on nine in ten days since January 2024, as reported by CryptoSlate. | Trading activity was low relative to the comparison period. Volume is not the same as net money entering funds. Source: CryptoSlate’s report of Glassnode data. |
| Composite buying estimate | About $4.9 billion over the 30 days through Oct. 5, 2026, estimated by Glassnode across ETF flows, stablecoin growth, and corporate treasury buying. | This is a combined estimate across multiple sources—not $4.9 billion of ETF purchases. | Bitcoin realized capitalization | Up about $12.8 billion over the 30 days through Oct. 5, 2026, according to Glassnode as reported by CryptoSlate. | Realized capitalization values coins at the prices at which they last moved. Its increase is distinct from fund cash flows and quoted market capitalization. Source: CryptoSlate’s report of Glassnode data. |
| U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF net flows | $118.8 million net inflow on Oct. 6, followed by $484.9 million net outflow on Oct. 7, 2026, according to the daily data CryptoSlate reported from Farside. | These two daily readings show a sharp reversal, not a lasting trend. Taken together, the figures offer a mixed picture. The composite estimate points to money arriving through several channels, while relatively subdued turnover and the next-day ETF outflow leave the breadth and persistence of demand uncertain. A stronger case for sustained buying would require repeated ETF inflows alongside stronger spot-market activity; renewed redemptions would point the other way.
How to interpret Citi’s older ETF-flow statistic
In its public outlook dated Jan. 13, 2025, Citi said ETF flows explained about 46% of Bitcoin price-action variance in its analysis, with each $1 billion in ETF inflows associated with roughly 4.7% returns. This is a historical statistical association, not a price formula or guarantee. Citi’s public outlook provides the 2025 context.

That relationship cannot validate or reproduce Citi’s current $113,000 target. The public summary does not disclose the observation frequency or full regression equation. Current reporting also does not specify what category Citi included in its $5 billion inflow expectation. Treating that figure as ETF-only and applying the 2025 association would require an unverified assumption.

Citi’s public 2025 outlook described equities as a major macro driver of crypto and characterized crypto markets as speculative and prone to sharp moves in either direction. That is historical context, not a verified account of every input to its October 2026 target. The available current reporting does not establish the probability that Bitcoin will reach $113,000, an inflow threshold needed to get there, or Citi’s full target model. Citi’s public outlook is the source for its historical macro comments.

For readers asking, “Can Bitcoin reach $113,000?”, the buying data alone does not answer yes or no. It shows some estimated inflows across different channels, but not yet clear evidence of broad, persistent demand. The forecast remains conditional, and the cited observations are point-in-time readings that can change quickly.
