Chino Moreno Net Worth: What’s Known—and What Isn’t

Chino Moreno’s personal net worth is not established by the available public sources. Deftones’ reported sales, streams, touring history, and rights transaction do not disclose his individual wealth.

There is no well-supported public figure for Chino Moreno’s personal net worth in the sources available. Deftones’ commercial reach and a reported sale of band members’ music rights do not reveal Moreno’s assets, debts, income, ownership share, or proceeds. Treat dollar estimates without a transparent calculation and attributable records as speculation.

Why Moreno’s net worth cannot be stated reliably

A net-worth figure requires more than evidence that an artist has had a successful career. It depends on personal assets and liabilities, along with income, expenses, ownership interests, and any relevant debts. The available interviews, label materials, and reporting do not provide that information or a transparent calculation for Moreno.

As a result, there is no defensible basis here for assigning him a dollar amount. Online estimates should not be repeated as facts unless the publisher explains its methodology and identifies credible underlying records.

What Deftones’ sales and streams do—and don’t—show

Warner Records’ 2025 press material describes Deftones as a band formed in Northern California in 1988 and reports that it has sold over 10 million records globally and gathered more than 9.2 billion streams. Those are label-reported figures about the band’s reach, not independently audited measures of Moreno’s earnings. Warner Records’ Deftones materials

Sales and streams do not translate directly into an individual member’s wealth. Revenue depends on factors such as rights ownership, contracts, royalty splits, costs, and timing; the label’s figures do not state Moreno’s share or personal income.

What the reported music-rights sale establishes

In 2025, NME reported, citing Billboard, that four of Deftones’ five members sold shares of master-recording royalties and publishing rights to Warner Music Group, while one member retained their share. The report does not identify which member retained rights or disclose Moreno’s individual proceeds. It therefore cannot support a claim that he sold a particular share or received a particular amount. NME’s report on the rights sale

Touring and Moreno’s continuing career

In a 2007 interview with Westword, Moreno said, “We make our living off touring, mostly.” That is a historical description of Deftones’ income mix at the time—not a statement of Moreno’s current income or personal finances. Westword’s 2007 interview

Moreno remains associated with Deftones’ current recorded work. Warner Records identified private music as the band’s tenth full-length album, released in 2025 through Reprise / Warner Records, and announced a sold-out North American headline-tour leg. These details establish ongoing band activity, not an individual net-worth figure. Warner Records’ private music announcement

How to assess net-worth claims about musicians

Before relying on a published estimate, check whether it:

  • Names the evidence behind the calculation rather than repeating another unsourced estimate.
  • Separates the artist’s personal assets from the band’s collective achievements or assets.
  • Accounts for liabilities and distinguishes rights ownership from reported revenue or a rights-sale headline.
  • Explains when the estimate was made and what it can—and cannot—establish.

Without that kind of evidence, a precise number can look authoritative while remaining unverifiable. The available sources document Deftones’ reach, activity, and a rights transaction, but not Moreno’s personal balance sheet.
