The figures are a snapshot of cargoes that reached China—not all purchases made during the month or after the late-October trade truce.
What China imported in November 2025
Chinese customs data, as reported by Reuters on December 22, showed total soybean imports of 8.11 million metric tons in November. Brazil supplied 5.85 million metric tons, or 72% of the monthly total. Argentina supplied 1.78 million metric tons, or 21.9%. No U.S. soybeans were recorded as arriving, compared with 2.79 million metric tons from the United States in November 2024. Reuters, republished by Successful Farming
| Origin | November 2025 arrivals | Share of November total |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 0 metric tons | 0% |
| Brazil | 5.85 million metric tons | 72% |
| Argentina | 1.78 million metric tons | 21.9% |
Shares are rounded as reported; the three origins shown account for nearly all of November’s 8.11 million metric tons.
What the 633.6% increase means
Argentina’s 633.6% increase compares its November 2025 arrivals with November 2024. It is a one-month, year-over-year comparison—not a full-year growth rate. Argentina supplied 1.78 million metric tons in November 2025.
#1 Best Overall
- High Yield Bush Growth: midori giant edamame seeds form 24-36 inch nitrogen-fixing bushes, rewarding vegetable garden growers in USDA 3-9 with crunchy pods rich in complete protein.
- Fast Germination: soybean seeds for planting sprout in 5-10 days at 70-90 °F, letting home garden beginners harvest tender edamame in just 80 days while heirloom seeds thrive in loamy soil.
- Nutrient-Rich Snack: soy beans deliver sweet nutty flavor and buttery texture; boil or freeze for soy-protein snacks, soy bean seeds to plant are ideal for survival gardening fans seeking clean non gmo edamame.
- Easy Direct Sow: edamame seeds for planting outdoors need 1" depth and 12" spacing, no trellis required; bush habit suits containers or raised beds, making veggie seeds ideal for small spaces.
- Disease-Smart Cultivation: edamame seeds to plant resist common pests when grown in full sun and evenly moist soil; gardening kit growers mulch to conserve water and pick bright green pods before they yellow.
For the longer January–November 2025 period, China imported 103.79 million metric tons in total. Argentina supplied 6.24 million metric tons, up 62.5% from the same period a year earlier; Brazil supplied 76.7 million metric tons, up 7%; and the United States supplied 16.82 million metric tons, down 5.9%. These cumulative totals cover eleven months and should not be confused with the November-only figures. Reuters, republished by Successful Farming
Why zero arrivals did not mean zero U.S. purchases
Customs arrival data measure cargoes that have reached China. They do not establish when buyers contracted for the beans, and they do not count cargoes still at sea or awaiting arrival. Reuters reported that China had bought more than 7 million metric tons of U.S. cargoes since the late-October 2025 trade truce, but those shipments had not arrived by the time November customs figures were reported. Sinograin, the state stockpiler, also held auctions to make room for expected U.S. arrivals. Reuters, republished by Successful Farming

The distinction matters: a month with no recorded U.S. arrivals can coexist with newly booked U.S. cargoes. The November figure describes what cleared into China that month, not the full state of post-truce trade.
What changed after November
Later reporting confirms the zero-arrival stretch did not continue into 2026. The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service said U.S. arrivals were zero from September through December 2025 and that China resumed U.S. soybean procurement after the October 2025 presidential meeting in Busan. As of February 26, 2026, China had purchased or shipped 10.8 million metric tons against a 12 million metric ton U.S. commitment. USDA also cautioned that sales listed for an “unknown” destination were not confirmed as China-bound. USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, 2026 Oilseeds and Products Annual

These later purchase and shipment figures are not November customs arrivals. They provide a subsequent update on procurement and should be read as a different measure from the monthly customs series.

Brazil’s 5.85 million metric tons made it China’s largest November supplier. Argentina’s 1.78 million metric tons represented a sharp year-over-year jump, but Brazil still provided more than three times Argentina’s November volume. A separate September 2025 customs snapshot also showed no U.S. arrivals, with Brazil at 10.96 million metric tons and Argentina at 1.17 million; September’s supplier volumes and total imports are not interchangeable with November’s. In its 2026 report, USDA FAS said South American beans were structurally price-competitive in early 2026 as Brazil entered harvest and marketed a large crop. That is the agency’s analysis of market conditions, not a finding that price alone caused November’s supplier mix. USDA forecast Chinese soybean imports of 108 million metric tons for marketing year 2026/27 and noted that slower soybean-meal demand could slow import-demand growth. The 108 million metric ton figure is a forecast, not an observed customs total. USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, 2026 Oilseeds and Products Annual
Quick Recap
Best Value
- HEIRLOOM VARIETY & HIGH YIELD: Outsidepride soy bean seeds is a robust heirloom strain known for its high yield, producing over 3 bushels per acre more than the popular Manokin variety, making it a valuable choice for maximizing harvest output. This variety is perfect for outdoor gardening enthusiasts looking to optimize their yard space.
- RICH IN PROTEIN & OIL WITH VERSATILE USES: Containing about 18% oil and 38% protein, this soybean variety is perfect for producing high-quality soy bean oil and protein-rich meal. These soybeans can be processed into a wide range of products, including soy milk powder, soy flour, soy protein, tofu, and various industrial non-food products, showcasing its versatility. Ideal for making various soy-based meals such as edamame snacks.
- OPTIMAL PLANTING GUIDELINES FOR MAXIMUM YIELD: For best results, plant soybean seeds at a depth of 0.75 to 1.5 inches, with row spacing between 7.5 and 15 inches, depending on soil type and tillage. This ensures uniform seed placement and optimal growth, adapting well to midwestern states and capturing a significant percentage of non-GMO acres.
- HIGH-PROTEIN ANIMAL FEED: The high-protein fiber left after oil extraction is ideal for animal feed, particularly for poultry and swine industries, which consume over half of the processed soybean meal. This meal is also crucial for cattle, other farm animals, and pets, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrients for growth and development. A great addition to feed mixes for cowpeas and other legumes.
- ECONOMIC AND NUTRITIONAL: As the most economically important bean globally, soybeans provide essential vegetable protein for millions and are key ingredients in hundreds of chemical products. A 60-pound bushel of our soybeans seed yields about 11 pounds of crude soybean oil and 47 pounds of soybean meal. Beneficial for producing shelf-stable goods for long-term use.
