China Construction Bank (CCB) offers two distinct investor contexts: A-shares traded in mainland China and H-shares traded in Hong Kong. The class you buy determines the market price, trading currency, settlement arrangements and the practical tax and currency questions you must answer. CCB has reported cash dividends consistently in recent years, but those payments are not guaranteed, and the available reports do not establish a current share price, dividend yield or complete numerical risk ranking.
The latest dated evidence is CCB’s 2025 Annual Report, released on 27 March 2026, and its 2026 Half-Year Report, published on 28 September 2026. The annual report records dividends of RMB3.887, RMB4.030 and RMB4.000 per ten shares for 2025, 2024 and 2023 respectively. The half-year report records a board proposal for a 2026 interim dividend of RMB2.010 per ten shares, including tax; approval and payment details must be checked in subsequent official announcements.

A-shares and H-shares are not interchangeable for analysis
An A-share investor evaluates a mainland-China market quotation in renminbi. An H-share investor evaluates a Hong Kong quotation, normally in Hong Kong dollars, while the issuer’s dividend figures are reported in renminbi. A return comparison therefore requires the exact class, purchase and sale prices, exchange-rate dates, dealing costs and any investor-specific taxes. Do not treat a local quotation in one market as the price of the other class.

CCB’s reporting distinguishes A-share and H-share shareholders in dividend and shareholder procedures. H-shareholders may be offered an RMB dividend election under the issuer’s procedures, with a specified election process and deadlines. The applicable choices and payment mechanics can change, so use the latest notice rather than assuming that a prior election remains in force.
Where to obtain the issuer’s current information
CCB’s investor-relations site is the reporting hub for its 2025 annual report, 2026 first-quarter report and 2026 half-year report. Use the latest detailed financial statements and official dividend announcements when checking figures, record dates, currency elections, approvals and payment dates. A news article or an old quotation is not a substitute for those documents.
How much dividend does CCB pay?
CCB’s annual report presents cash dividends per ten shares, not per individual share. The amounts are in renminbi and include tax. Dividing by ten gives a per-share equivalent, but the report’s stated unit should be retained when comparing its table with other disclosures.

What the payout ratio means
CCB defines the annual-report payout ratio using consolidated net profit attributable to equity shareholders. It is the share of that profit distributed as cash dividends, expressed as a percentage. The reported ratios were 30.0% for 2025, 30.0% for 2024 and 30.1% for 2023.
A payout ratio is not a dividend yield. Yield requires a market price for a specified share class on a specified date. For example, the basic calculation is:
Dividend yield = annual cash dividend per share ÷ share price × 100

What is the proposed 2026 interim dividend?
CCB’s 2026 Half-Year Report says the board proposed an interim cash dividend of RMB2.010 per ten shares, including tax. The proposed aggregate distribution was RMB52,582 million. The same report describes the issuer’s proposed interim payout ratio as 31.0%, compared with 30.0% for 2025.
Proposal, approval and payment are different stages
The half-year report records a board proposal; it does not by itself establish that every subsequent corporate action has occurred. Before treating the amount as payable, check CCB’s later official announcement index for shareholder approval (if required), the ex-dividend or record date, H-share currency-election instructions, payment date and any withholding details. Do not reuse the 2025 distribution timetable as a forecast for the 2026 proposal.
Is China Construction Bank stock a good investment?
There is no universal answer. Suitability depends on your time horizon, tolerance for bank-credit and policy risk, preferred share class, currency exposure and the valuation at which you buy. The cited reports support a factual discussion of CCB’s recent distributions and investor mechanics, but they do not provide a current price, valuation conclusion or a complete set of quantified risk metrics.

Questions to answer before making a decision
- Which class can you legitimately access, and in which market and currency will it trade?
- What price and valuation are you using, and at what timestamp?
- Can you tolerate a reduction, delay or cancellation of a future dividend?
- How would a renminbi or Hong Kong-dollar move affect your home-currency return?
- What do the latest statements show about asset quality, profitability, capital buffers and management’s distribution policy?
A historical payout near 30% demonstrates past distributions, not a contractual entitlement. Banks may retain more earnings when credit losses rise, capital requirements tighten or management sees better uses for capital.

What are the risks of investing in CCB?
The reports cited here do not support a current numerical ranking of CCB’s risks. A serious review should investigate the following areas in the latest full financial statements and regulatory disclosures rather than infer a conclusion from the dividend table.
Credit and asset-quality risk
Review non-performing loans, overdue and restructured loans, impairment charges, reserve coverage and movements in those measures. Examine concentrations by borrower type, industry and geography, including exposure to property-related borrowers where the disclosures define it. A single headline NPL ratio can conceal differing write-off, restructuring or classification practices, so read the accompanying definitions and reconciliation tables.
Earnings and interest-rate sensitivity
Net interest income and net interest margin are central to a bank’s earnings. Lower lending rates, deposit pricing, loan demand and the timing of asset and liability repricing can pull earnings in opposite directions. Look for CCB’s disclosed repricing gaps, sensitivity analysis and explanations of changes in net interest income and margin. Do not present a general rate-cycle observation as a measured current effect on CCB unless the latest report quantifies it.
Capital and regulatory constraints
Check current common-equity, Tier 1 and total capital ratios, regulatory minimums, buffers and any disclosed management targets. Also review capital issuance, risk-weighted-asset growth and distribution constraints. A dividend that appears affordable on an earnings basis can still be limited by supervisory requirements or the need to support balance-sheet growth. The materials summarized here do not provide a complete current capital analysis.

China and Hong Kong market context
Separate issuer fundamentals from macroeconomic, policy and market-liquidity factors. A-share and H-share prices can diverge because the markets have different participants, trading conventions and liquidity. Policy changes, economic growth, credit conditions and investor sentiment can affect both classes, but not necessarily by the same amount or at the same time.
Currency, access and dealing risk
The dividend is stated in RMB while an H-share quotation is generally in Hong Kong dollars and an overseas investor may measure results in another currency. Currency conversion can materially change the home-currency value of both dividends and sale proceeds. Access, settlement, eligibility and taxes depend on the investor’s jurisdiction and intermediary; do not assume that a particular broker or market route is available to you.
Dividend sustainability risk
Assess distributions against attributable earnings, capital needs, asset-quality trends and any stated future policy. The 2025 annual-report ratios and the proposed 31.0% 2026 interim ratio are historical or proposed measures. They are evidence of the issuer’s decisions for those periods, not a promise of a future percentage or amount.
Valuation and price risk
A high indicated yield can result from a falling share price or heightened risk expectations. Conversely, a stable dividend can still produce a poor investment if the purchase valuation is excessive or the price declines. Calculate valuation using a dated price for the exact class and reconcile the currency before drawing a conclusion. The cited source set does not establish that CCB is cheap or expensive.
How to research CCB shares step by step
- Identify the class. Record A-share or H-share, exchange, ticker, quotation currency and the market in which you can actually trade.
- Download the latest reports. Start with the 2025 Annual Report and 2026 Half-Year Report, then check the investor-relations page for newer filings.
- Verify the dividend event. Label each amount as proposed, approved, declared or paid. Record the per-ten-share unit, tax wording, aggregate amount and relevant dates.
- Build a dated yield calculation. Use a contemporaneous price for the same class, convert the dividend to per share, state the currency and show the formula.
- Read the risk tables. Extract NPL and reserve data, impairment charges, net interest margin, capital ratios, liquidity information and exposure concentrations with their definitions and reporting dates.
- Check investor mechanics. For H-shares, review the current currency-election and payment instructions. Confirm your own jurisdiction’s tax and settlement treatment with an appropriately qualified source.
- Stress-test the thesis. Consider lower earnings, a reduced payout, currency depreciation and a share-price decline rather than relying on the latest distribution alone.
When is CCB’s next dividend?
The latest cited filing records a board proposal for the 2026 interim dividend of RMB2.010 per ten shares. It does not supply a definitive payment date for every investor. Use CCB’s official announcement index to confirm later approval, record date, currency election, ex-dividend treatment and payment details. The 2025 schedule cannot be presented as the timetable for the 2026 proposal.
Quick Recap
Common mistakes when interpreting CCB’s dividend figures
- Reading per ten shares as per share: RMB3.887 is the reported amount for ten shares, not one share.
- Calling payout ratio a yield: 30.0% describes profit distributed; it does not describe the return on a market price.
- Mixing share classes: An A-share price and an H-share price are not directly comparable without market and currency context.
- Treating a proposal as cash received: The 2026 interim amount remains a proposal in the cited half-year report until later corporate actions are confirmed.
- Assuming history guarantees policy: Past distributions can be reduced or omitted when earnings, capital or regulatory conditions change.
- Ignoring currency and taxes: Gross RMB figures do not equal an investor’s net home-currency cash receipt.
