In the latest full-year figures cited here, July was the cheapest month to stay in Las Vegas on average: the citywide average daily room rate was $160.15 in July 2024, compared with a 2024 high of $216.99 in October. That is historical, citywide data—not a forecast or a quote for a particular hotel or date. To find the cheapest trip for your plans, compare live prices for exact dates and check the total after taxes, fees, parking, and transport.
Which month is cheapest for a Vegas hotel?
July had the lowest citywide average daily room rate (ADR) among the 12 months in the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s calendar-year 2024 statistics. The LVCVA reported the figures on February 26, 2025; some entries carry a revision marker. October was the highest month in that series.
| Month | Citywide ADR |
|---|---|
| January 2024 | $191.23 |
| February 2024 | $248.35 |
| March 2024 | $178.26 |
| April 2024 | $182.30 |
| May 2024 | $202.59 |
| June 2024 | $175.64 |
| July 2024 | $160.15 |
| August 2024 | $175.44 |
| September 2024 | $196.34 |
| October 2024 | $216.99 |
| November 2024 | $198.72 |
| December 2024 | $193.68 |

July was not empty: total occupancy was 83.7%, versus 85.7% in October. The monthly average therefore does not mean every July night is a bargain, and a specific event, weekend, room type, or booking restriction can produce a very different quote. Check the dates you can actually travel and the cancellation terms before choosing a month.

Are midweek stays or particular areas cheaper?
Compare weekdays with weekends
For calendar year 2024, the LVCVA reported average occupancy of 80.4% midweek and 90.8% on weekends. That supports checking weekday dates when your schedule allows: weekends were busier overall. Occupancy is not a room-price quote, however, so compare live rates for the same property and room type.
Compare neighborhoods, not just the city average
In 2024, annual ADR was $206.12 on the Strip and $104.65 downtown. Those are different area-wide averages, not guaranteed prices at individual hotels. A lower room rate farther from your plans may also mean more spending on transport or more travel time. Compare the location against your itinerary and the cost of getting around.

- Room price: Confirm whether the displayed rate is per night, whether it changes across your dates, and whether the booking has restrictions.
- Tax and mandatory charges: The City of Las Vegas says transient lodging tax is collected as a separate add-on. Its listed rates are 13% outside the Primary Gaming Corridor and 13.38% inside it. These rates are specific to the city and location; verify the property’s jurisdiction and applicable charges. The city’s Room Tax page has current details.
- Parking and transport: Add parking charges and the cost of getting to the places you plan to visit. A cheaper room may not be cheaper overall if it is less convenient.
- Included value: Count breakfast, credits, free parking, or rewards benefits only if you would otherwise pay for them and can use them under the offer’s terms.
- Flexibility: Check cancellation deadlines and change rules; a low restricted rate may not suit plans that could shift.
The City of Las Vegas states that “Room tax should be collected by the operator from the guest as a separate add-on charge.” The city’s stated rates should not be assumed to apply to every Las Vegas-area property.
Other ways to save on a Las Vegas trip
Check hotel offers and rewards terms
Visit Las Vegas recommends looking for advance-booking promotions, checking resort rewards programs, and considering properties that advertise free parking. These are leads to compare, not guarantees: confirm eligible dates, fees, booking channels, and any membership requirements directly with the property. A discount is useful only if the final total beats alternatives for your trip.

Compare airfare and hotel dates together
The official Visit Las Vegas budget guide says airfares are usually lower from July through September. Treat that as a broad planning window, not a guaranteed fare: route, carrier, dates, and availability all matter. Compare flight and hotel costs together, since a lower fare can be outweighed by a more expensive stay or schedule.
Build in free or lower-cost activities
The Visit Las Vegas guide lists free attractions including the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, and Fremont Street Experience, along with budget dining and entertainment ideas. Check current access rules, hours, schedules, and menus before relying on any listing.

A practical way to find the lowest-cost dates
- Choose a few date ranges you can genuinely travel, including midweek options if possible.
- For each range, compare the same room type and guest count at properties in locations that work for your itinerary.
- Open the full checkout breakdown and add tax, mandatory fees, parking, and transport costs.
- Compare cancellation terms and count rewards or included benefits only when you qualify and will use them.
- Check airfare and planned activities for those same dates, then choose the lowest total that still fits your needs.
Use July’s lower 2024 citywide average as a clue for when to start comparing—not as a promise that July will be cheapest for your specific trip.
