Chase vs. Capital One Business Checking: What to Know Before Opening an Account

Compare Chase and Capital One business checking by the costs and services that affect your business: balance requirements, cash deposits, wires, local access and application eligibility.

Neither Chase nor Capital One is the right choice for every small business. Compare the account tier you qualify for against your typical balance, cash deposits, wire volume, need for branch service and legal business structure. The advertised monthly fee is only one part of the cost.

How do Chase and Capital One business checking fees compare?

At the entry level, Chase Business Complete Banking lists a $15 monthly fee, with a $0 option when its waiver requirements are met. Capital One Basic Checking lists a $15 monthly fee that can be waived with a qualifying average balance of at least $2,000 over the prior 30 or 90 days, depending on the applicable terms. Those conditions are not interchangeable: check each bank’s current fee disclosure for the exact measurement period and other waiver requirements before opening an account.

Chase says no minimum deposit is required to open a Business Complete Banking account, according to its Business Complete FAQ. That does not mean the account has no ongoing balance or activity considerations; review the current fee schedule for the waiver rules and other charges.

Compare the full cost of the services you expect to use, not just the monthly fee. Cash deposits, wire transfers and transactions beyond included limits can change which account is less expensive for your business.

How much cash can you deposit without a fee?

The cash terms differ in both their measurement period and how deposits are handled. Chase Business Complete includes up to $5,000 in in-branch cash deposits per statement cycle. Capital One Basic allows up to $5,000 in monthly teller cash deposits before charging $1 per $1,000 above that threshold. Because one limit is measured by statement cycle and the other by month, they should not be treated as identical allowances.

Account Published cash terms What to check
Chase Business Complete Up to $5,000 in in-branch cash deposits per statement cycle, according to Chase’s account comparison. Confirm what counts toward the allowance and the applicable fee for deposits above it.
Capital One Basic Checking Monthly teller cash deposits above $5,000 incur $1 per $1,000, according to Capital One’s account terms. Confirm the current calculation and any other cash-related limits or fees.
Capital One Enhanced Checking Capital One describes this tier as designed for cash deposit needs under $40,000 per month and states that it has no cash transaction fee under its terms. Check account eligibility and the complete current terms; the stated design range is not a promise that every deposit is free in every circumstance.

If your business regularly handles cash, estimate monthly deposits and identify where you would make them. Capital One says cash deposits are available at Capital One locations and select Allpoint ATMs; a broad ATM network does not mean cash can be deposited at every ATM.

How do wire fees and payment tools differ?

Wire costs depend on the account tier and the number and type of transfers. Capital One Enhanced lists five free outgoing domestic wires each month, then $25 per additional wire. Chase Performance includes incoming wires and two outgoing domestic wires per statement cycle; Chase Platinum includes incoming wires and four outgoing domestic wires per statement cycle. These included amounts do not establish the cost of every wire: check each bank’s current disclosures for additional domestic and international transfer pricing and conditions.

For everyday payments, the banks promote overlapping but distinct tools. Chase promotes mobile banking, bill pay, digital invoicing, employee cards on request and QuickAccept card acceptance with Business Complete. Capital One promotes mobile deposits, ACH, selected online bill pay and business debit cards. Before relying on a feature, check its eligibility, fees, limits and terms; availability may depend on the account or service.

Choose based on your actual workflow. A business that accepts card payments, pays vendors by ACH or sends recurring wires should compare the relevant services and their terms rather than assuming that a checking account’s headline fee covers them all.

Which bank has more convenient local access?

Chase lists more than 5,000 branches and 14,000 ATMs on its current business checking page. Capital One lists more than 70,000 fee-free ATMs across its own and partner networks; its count uses third-party network information and was last updated March 25, 2026. These are published network figures, not a measure of convenience in your neighborhood.

Chase’s branch footprint may matter if you regularly need in-person service or teller cash deposits. Capital One’s fee-free ATM network may be useful for routine withdrawals, but cash deposits are limited to Capital One locations and select Allpoint ATMs. Search the locations you would actually use for deposits, withdrawals and branch visits before deciding.

Can you open an account online for an LLC or corporation?

Do not assume an online application is available for every business structure. Chase directs some LLC and corporation structures to apply in a branch. Its application guidance says applicants may need business registration, tax ID, ownership and operations information.

Capital One says applicants are reviewed and that additional documents may depend on the ownership structure. Its small-business checking information describes the account options, but you should confirm the application route and document requirements for your particular business before relying on online opening.

Before applying, gather your entity and tax details, identify the owners and be ready to describe the business. Confirm the bank’s current requirements directly; the exact documents and application process can vary with the structure.

What to check before choosing

Use your expected activity—not a general claim that one bank is better—to make the decision. Before opening either account, check:

  • Your typical balance and the exact requirements for waiving the monthly fee.
  • Your cash deposits by month and statement cycle, how you will deposit them, and the cost above any included allowance.
  • The number of teller transactions and domestic or international wires you expect, including which transfers are included in the account tier.
  • Whether the digital payment features you need are available for your account and what they cost.
  • Nearby branches, deposit-capable locations and ATMs you would realistically use.
  • Your business’s legal structure, application route and required ownership or tax documents.

Account terms, fees, eligibility and access can change. Review the current fee disclosures for the specific account before applying.
