The final reported deadline to apply for Central Bank of India’s 3,000 tentative Apprentice vacancies was June 17, 2024. The bank reopened applications in June after the original March deadline; the revised tentative online examination date was June 23, 2024. Both dates have passed, so this was a 2024 recruitment cycle, not an open application.

Why the deadline changed from March to June

“CBI” in this recruitment meant Central Bank of India, not the Central Bureau of Investigation. The bank’s original notice opened registration on February 21, 2024, and set March 6 as the deadline. It initially listed March 10 as the tentative online examination date. Central Bank of India’s recruitment notices contain the bank’s original notification and subsequent corrigendum.

In a corrigendum dated June 6, 2024, the bank said it would reopen the application window from June 6 through June 17. That later official notice established June 17 as the final reported application deadline and replaced the March exam timetable with a tentative written examination date of June 23, 2024. The revised exam date was also tentative and is now past. Scroll’s contemporaneous coverage reported the original March deadline; the bank’s later corrigendum controls the revised schedule.

Who needed to use the reopened window?

The bank’s June corrigendum said candidates who had already applied and paid the fee did not need to apply again. Candidates who had registered but could not pay the fee could use the reopened window to complete that step. The corrigendum stated: “It is now decided by the bank to re-open the application window for the engagement of Apprentices from 6th June to 17th June 2024.”

What the 3,000 Apprentice vacancies involved

Central Bank of India advertised 3,000 tentative vacancies for FY 2024–25. The number was not a guaranteed final hiring total: the bank said vacancies could change according to its requirements. Vacancies were allocated across states, regions and categories, and the bank could place selected candidates in branches or offices in the respective regions at its discretion.

The apprenticeship was a 12-month, on-the-job training engagement. The bank listed a monthly stipend of ₹15,000 for apprentices in rural/semi-urban, urban and metro branches. Apprentices were not eligible for other allowances or benefits. The bank also expressly stated that it was not obliged to offer employment after the apprenticeship and that an apprentice could not claim a right to a bank job. This was not a permanent-job offer.

Eligibility rules stated for the 2024 cycle

The bank assessed eligibility as of March 31, 2024. These are the requirements in the 2024 notice, not a statement of current recruitment rules.

  • Education: A graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the central government. Candidates needed to have completed graduation and obtained the passing certificate after March 31, 2020.
  • Age: The notice specified a birth-date range from April 1, 1996, through March 31, 2004. Upper-age relaxation applied to specified categories under applicable government guidelines.
  • NATS registration: Candidates had to register on the NATS apprenticeship portal and complete their profile. The bank said only candidates with a 100% completed portal profile were eligible to apply.
  • Other restrictions: The notice disallowed candidates who had already completed or were pursuing an apprenticeship covered by the notice, as well as candidates with one or more years of training or job experience after completing their qualification. Medical fitness and document verification were required for engagement.

Selection, examination and the historical fee schedule

The selection process included an objective online written test and proof of proficiency in the relevant local language. The notice listed quantitative aptitude, general English, reasoning aptitude and computer knowledge, as well as basic retail liability, retail asset, investment and insurance products. Selection was to be made on merit against vacancies; the bank reserved the right to use another test or criterion.

The original notice listed these application, examination and intimation fees for the 2024 cycle. They are historical amounts, not current prices.

Candidate category 2024 fee, plus GST
Persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) ₹400
SC/ST, all women and EWS candidates ₹600
Other candidates ₹800

The 2024 application route required NATS registration and a completed profile before applying through the recruitment process described in the bank’s notice. Because this cycle has closed, the old deadline and portal instructions should not be treated as an invitation to apply now. Anyone considering a later Central Bank of India apprenticeship should check the bank’s latest official notification for dates, eligibility, fees and application links.
