CD-rate roundups published for April 1, 2025, did not agree on the highest advertised APY: Yahoo Personal Finance reported 4.50%, while a Motley Fool roundup syndicated by AOL listed offers up to 4.65% in a table dated March 31. These are historical figures, not current offers or a single verified market ranking.

What CD rates were reported for April 1, 2025?

Yahoo Personal Finance named Marcus by Goldman Sachs and LendingClub as its highest-rate offers, both at 4.50% APY. The Motley Fool’s AOL-syndicated roundup listed two offers at 4.65% APY and several other offers. Its table was marked accurate as of March 31, 2025. The sources do not establish why their reported maxima differ or whether every offer was available to every reader.

The Motley Fool, syndicated by AOL; table dated March 31, 2025 LendingClub 4.50% 10 months $2,500

These figures reproduce the named offers in the respective historical editorial roundups; they do not establish today’s rates, geographic eligibility, or whether an offer was available to a particular depositor. The excerpts do not state offer-specific early-withdrawal penalties, maturity or renewal rules, or institution-level deposit-insurance status.

How to compare a CD beyond its APY

A higher APY is useful only if the term and access rules suit your plans for the money. Before opening a CD, compare these details directly with the issuing institution:

What the 2025 rate context does—and does not—show

Yahoo Personal Finance attributed declining deposit rates to Federal Reserve cuts in 2024. Its April 2025 article said the Fed raised rates 11 times between March 2022 and July 2023 and began cutting in September 2024. That is the article’s historical explanation for the period, not a forecast of current CD rates.

The same article gave historical comparisons of about 1% APY for an average one-year CD in 2009 and less than 2% for five-year CDs; for 2013, it cited about 0.1% APY for average six-month CDs and 0.8% for five-year CDs. These are figures as reported in that secondary article, not a primary statistical series.
