Through 31 December 2026, Cathay’s four membership statuses are Green, Silver, Gold and Diamond. The programme changes on 1 January 2027: Diamond Exec becomes a qualification tier, Diamond Plus is invitation-only, and points earned during 2026 determine the status members hold when the new system begins. The key distinction is that 2026 earnings are assessed in bands, while the ordinary 2027 thresholds are qualification targets.
Which Cathay membership tiers are available?
Until 31 December 2026, Cathay lists four statuses. Green is the entry status; Silver, Gold and Diamond are earned through qualifying activity. From 1 January 2027, Diamond Exec is added as a points-qualified tier, while Diamond Plus is invitation-only.

The 2026 thresholds and eligible-sector condition describe Cathay’s current qualification mechanics; the 2027 figures are the new programme’s ordinary thresholds. See Cathay’s Status Points page and its 2027 programme update for the applicable terms.
How will 2026 points determine status in 2027?
For the transition, Cathay will total Status Points earned from 1 January through 31 December 2026 and use the result to determine the member’s status on 1 January 2027. These are transition-year bands, not a replacement for the regular qualification thresholds that apply under the 2027 programme.

These mapping bands come from Cathay’s 2026 membership terms. For example, 2,400 points earned in 2026 map to Diamond Exec from 1 January 2027; the 2,400-point figure is not a retroactive 2026 status tier.
How do members qualify for a higher status from 2027?
From 1 January 2027, the published ordinary thresholds are 300 points for Silver, 600 for Gold, 1,200 for Diamond and 2,400 for Diamond Exec. Cathay says the points-earning year will run from 1 January to 31 December. Unlike the current upgrade mechanic, points will no longer reset every time a member moves up a tier, so a member can progress through more than one tier within a calendar year.

Current upgrades proceed one status at a time when the next threshold is reached. Do not carry that one-tier-at-a-time mechanic forward into 2027; Cathay’s announced no-reset rule changes it.

What benefits differ by tier?
Cathay’s benefits pages describe airport priority, lounge access, upgrade opportunities and companion-related privileges, but availability depends on status, itinerary, market and the relevant terms. Lounge access is also subject to local law and the lounge operator’s policies. Check the benefits page and programme terms for the member’s market and specific trip rather than assuming every advertised benefit applies to every flight.
Green
Green is the entry status. Cathay identifies it as the status on joining; it is not a points-qualification tier in the 2027 structure.
Silver
Under the 2027 update, Silver retains a milestone benefit: members reaching 450 Status Points receive two Business class Lounge Passes. The passes are for the member or travel companions travelling together on a Cathay Pacific flight, subject to the applicable conditions.

Gold
For the current programme, Cathay lists Gold mid-status lounge passes at 800 points and four Bookable Upgrades at 1,000 points. Cathay’s update says these Gold mid-status benefits are removed from 1 January 2027, so they should not be assumed to remain available under the new rules.
Diamond
Cathay’s 2027 update describes two single-sector Upgrade Passes for Diamond members who reach 1,200 points and upgrade to Diamond, and two passes for Diamond members who meet renewal-point requirements. These are conditional benefits: they apply to eligible Cathay Pacific-marketed and -operated flights and depend on seat availability. The update also says Diamond mid-status lounge passes, upgrades and the companion-card benefit are removed from 1 January 2027.
Diamond Exec and Diamond Plus
Diamond Exec is the 2,400-point tier from 2027. Diamond Plus is not a standard threshold tier: Cathay says it is invitation-only for Diamond and Diamond Exec members, with invitations based on annual fare spending on Cathay Pacific flights. The cited programme update does not establish a universal fare-spend amount for an invitation.
What happens to points carried into a later year?
Cathay’s programme update describes rollover of excess points for eligible Gold, Diamond and Diamond Exec members, capped at up to 50% of the points required for the status achieved. Its published maximum examples are 300 points for Gold, 600 for Diamond and 1,200 for Diamond Exec. These are maximum rollover amounts, not extra qualification thresholds; eligibility and final rules are subject to Cathay’s full terms.
Which tier is worth pursuing?
There is no universally best-value tier: the practical value depends on how often you fly Cathay Pacific, which routes and airports you use, and whether the applicable priority, lounge or upgrade benefits matter to you. Before planning around a benefit, check its qualifying flight, companion rules, seat availability and market-specific terms. The 2027 removal of several Gold and Diamond mid-status benefits also means a past-year benefit list may not describe what a member can earn after the change takes effect.
