Cash App Security Settlement: Are Claims Still Open and Who Could Get Up to $2,500?

No. The claim deadline for the Cash App Security Settlement passed on November 18, 2024, and the settlement administrator says it no longer accepts late claim forms. The advertised $2,500 was a maximum for eligible, documented out-of-pocket losses—not a guaranteed payment. The administrator’s page, updated September 28, 2026, scheduled payments to approved claimants for October 2026; check the official settlement website for the latest status.

Can you still file a Cash App settlement claim?

No. The deadline to submit a claim was November 18, 2024. The settlement administrator states that late claim forms are no longer accepted, so someone who did not file by the deadline cannot submit a new claim now.

The case is Salinas, et al. v. Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC, No. 22-cv-04823, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The settlement concerned allegations involving data-security incidents, unauthorized or fraudulent transfers, and complaint and error-resolution processes. Block and Cash App Investing deny wrongdoing; the settlement notice states, “Block and Cash App Investing contest these claims and deny that they did anything wrong.”

What did “up to $2,500” mean?

The figure was the settlement’s cap for eligible out-of-pocket losses supported by third-party documentation. It was not a flat award, a promise that every claimant would receive $2,500, or an amount available to people who did not submit an approved claim. The settlement required a timely, valid claim approved under its terms.

Lost time Up to three hours at $25 per hour, a maximum of $75 in this category, under the claim process; it was not automatic.

The covered event period stated in the settlement terms was August 23, 2018 through August 20, 2024. Eligibility and payment depended on the settlement terms and approval of a claim filed by the deadline. See the official settlement FAQs for category and documentation details.

When were settlement payments scheduled?

The court granted final approval on March 27, 2025. In an update dated September 28, 2026, the administrator scheduled distribution to approved claims for October 2026. That is a planned distribution window, not confirmation that every approved claimant has been paid. For subsequent updates, use the settlement website.

Is the separate CFPB remediation the same settlement?

No. A separate Block/CFPB remediation concerns certain historical Cash App customer-service and dispute practices under docket 2025-CFPB-0001. Its official page says checks began mailing June 8, 2026. It is distinct from the Salinas security class action, and its check mailing does not establish an individual’s status in this settlement. See the official Block/CFPB remediation page.
