Sometimes. Whether you can use two gift cards on an online order depends on the retailer, the type of cards, and the order. Target.com, for example, accepts up to 10 Target GiftCards per order; other retailers may accept gift cards without stating a maximum.
Check the retailer and card type first
There is no universal rule for using multiple gift cards online. A store’s own gift card may follow different checkout rules from a third-party prepaid Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card. Before placing an order, check the retailer’s payment policy for the specific card type and order method.

Target’s rules for combining cards
Target’s published limit of up to 10 applies to Target GiftCards—not to gift cards generally. Target says: “You can apply up to 10 Target GiftCards per order.” Its help article also explains that Target GiftCard value is used before the selected credit card pays any remaining balance.
Target treats third-party prepaid cards separately: only one can be applied to an order. It may be used alongside a Target GiftCard, but not alongside a credit card in that transaction. For Same Day Delivery, keep an additional payment method available for possible substitutions or special requests.

What to do if checkout will not accept both cards
- Identify each card. Confirm whether each is the retailer’s own gift card or a third-party prepaid card. The distinction can change what combinations are allowed.
- Check the retailer’s current payment policy. Look for both the maximum number of cards and rules for combining them with a credit or debit card.
- Check the order method. Delivery, pickup, or other special order types can have additional payment requirements.
- Follow the checkout instructions. If the allowed combination is unclear or the transaction is rejected, contact the retailer before relying on the cards for that order.
For Walmart and Best Buy, the official pages cited above confirm online gift-card acceptance but do not specify a maximum number per order. Do not assume that acceptance means two or more cards can be combined; verify the live checkout policy for your order.
