Can You Transfer a Starbucks Card to Another Account? A U.S. Guide

A registered Starbucks Card and Rewards account can’t be transferred to another person under the U.S. terms. You can add cards to your own account, move an eGift balance, or replace a reported registered card.

No—not if you mean transferring a registered Starbucks Card or Rewards account to another person. Starbucks’ U.S. Rewards terms say registered cards and accounts are personal and cannot be transferred or shared. You can add multiple cards to your own account, and an eGift recipient can move its balance to an existing card. Those are different actions.

Which kind of Starbucks transfer do you mean?

What you want to do Is it supported? What moves
Add another card to your own Rewards account Yes. Starbucks permits multiple cards on one personal account. The card is associated with your account; its ownership is not transferred.
Move an eGift balance to an existing card Yes, for the eGift recipient, under Starbucks’ Card Terms & Conditions. The eGift balance moves to another Starbucks Card.
Give another person your registered card or Rewards account No under the published U.S. Rewards terms. Neither the registered card nor the account may be transferred or shared.
Replace a lost, stolen, or damaged registered card Starbucks describes a replacement process. Remaining value at the time Starbucks is notified is frozen and loaded onto a replacement card.

Can you transfer a registered card to another person’s account?

No self-service transfer is provided in Starbucks’ published U.S. Rewards terms. Starbucks says: “Your Stars, Rewards, registered Starbucks Cards, and Starbucks Rewards account are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends or others, or used by you for any commercial purpose.” The terms are for the U.S. Rewards program and are effective March 10, 2026: Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use.

Do not give someone your login credentials as a workaround. If your situation involves closing an account, duplicate accounts, or another unusual circumstance, contact Starbucks Customer Service for guidance; the published terms do not promise that support can move a registered card or account.

How to add a card to your own Starbucks account

If you are adding a physical gift card or eGift to your own account, Starbucks says to enter the 16-digit Starbucks Card number and security code. Its Card Terms & Conditions direct customers to card management, where they can choose “Add” and complete the online form. The exact interface may change, so follow the live prompts in your account.

How to move an eGift balance to another card

If you received an eGift, Starbucks’ Card Terms & Conditions say you may add it to your Starbucks account, transfer its balance onto an existing Starbucks Card, or print it and bring it to a store to make a purchase. This is a balance move from an eGift—not a transfer of an existing registered card or Rewards account to someone else.

To use the balance-transfer option, follow the eGift instructions and current account or card-management prompts. Starbucks’ terms describe the available option but do not specify a fixed button-by-button sequence for completing it.

What to do if your registered card is lost, stolen, or damaged

  1. Report the problem promptly through your Starbucks account or by calling 1-800-STARBUC.
  2. Starbucks says it will freeze the remaining value when you notify it and load that value onto a replacement card.

The replacement protection described in the card agreement applies when the lost card was registered. Starbucks’ Customer Service page can direct you to current support options.

Card balance and Rewards Stars are different

Starbucks’ Card Terms & Conditions say card value does not expire. That stored monetary value is distinct from Stars, Rewards, and the Rewards account, which are governed by the Rewards terms and are personal to the account holder. A balance transfer for an eGift should not be read as permission to transfer Stars or an account.
