Short answer: Xfinity Mobile’s iPhone 15 launch promotion was genuine, but the phone was not an unconditional giveaway. In September 2023, Xfinity advertised up to $830 off eligible Apple devices, including iPhone 15 models, when customers supplied a qualifying trade-in. The discount was delivered through promotional credits and depended on the offer’s plan, line, financing and trade-in rules.
As of August 18, 2026, Xfinity’s public Apple-deals page no longer advertises an iPhone 15 promotion. It shows newer offers instead, so treat an iPhone 15 deal as expired unless a signed-in Xfinity account displays a current, account-specific offer with complete terms.
What the original iPhone 15 promotion promised
Comcast announced the offer on September 12, 2023, around the iPhone 15 launch. The announcement said new and existing Xfinity Mobile customers could receive up to $830 off eligible Apple devices, including iPhone 15 models, with a qualifying trade-in. Read the original announcement at Comcast.
- Trade-in offer: Up to $830 off an eligible Apple device, including iPhone 15, with a qualifying device.
- No-trade-in offer: New Xfinity Mobile customers adding a line could receive $400 off eligible devices.
- Potential stack: The announcement said the trade-in promotion could be combined with a $100 Visa prepaid card when activating a new phone line.
Those were headline terms, not a universal promise to every customer. Eligible trade-in models, condition standards, plan and line requirements, deadlines, inventory and the credit schedule were controlled by the specific promotion and the checkout screen.

Why “free” did not mean zero cost
“Free iPhone” generally meant the device cost could be offset after qualifying promotional credits—not that no money would leave your account. Separate these parts of the transaction:
| Cost or credit | What it means |
|---|---|
| Retail price | The phone’s full device price used to calculate installments and, where applicable, sales tax. |
| Trade-in value | The value assigned to your old phone. The initial online estimate can change after inspection. |
| Promotional discount | The special credit attached to the particular offer; “up to $830” is a maximum, not a guarantee for every model. |
| Monthly bill credits | Credits applied over the promotion’s credit period rather than necessarily reducing the checkout price immediately. |
| Service and fees | Wireless-plan charges, taxes, activation or upgrade fees and other account costs remain separate. |
| Early cancellation | Stopping the qualifying line or changing plans can end future credits, leaving a device balance. |
Xfinity’s reviewed promotional trade-in terms define a 24-month credit period, although the offer-specific terms control. You may initially see the new phone’s installment on your bill, with a separate monthly promotional credit. Taxes can be based on the phone’s applicable taxable price, and service charges continue even when the net device payment is reduced to zero.
Is the iPhone 15 deal still available in 2026?
The public Xfinity Apple-deals page viewed on August 18, 2026, promotes newer iPhones rather than iPhone 15. Its displayed iPhone 17 offer requires a qualifying trade-in, a new Mobile Plus line and a device payment plan; Xfinity Internet is required, taxes and fees are extra, and the page states an August 25, 2026 end date. Check the live page at Xfinity’s Apple deals page.

Do not treat an old search result, email, screenshot or forum post as proof that Xfinity still honors the iPhone 15 promotion. Sign in and verify the actual offer attached to your account. Record:
- the exact model and storage capacity;
- the full retail price, installment and promotional-credit amounts;
- the required plan and whether a new line, upgrade or port-in is required;
- the trade-in model, condition rules and shipping deadline;
- the activation deadline, expiration date and any inventory limitation;
- what happens to credits if you cancel or change plans.
Who could qualify?
The 2023 announcement specifically included both new and existing Xfinity Mobile customers. That does not make every later offer available to both groups. For example, the current public iPhone 17 promotion requires a new Mobile Plus line. Eligibility can differ based on:
- whether you are a new or existing Xfinity Internet customer;
- whether the transaction adds a line, upgrades an existing line or ports a number;
- the required plan tier and device-payment enrollment;
- account-specific targeting, sales channel and inventory;
- geography and the promotion’s expiration date.
What makes a phone a qualifying trade-in?
Xfinity’s trade-in guidance generally requires a device without screen cracks, significant physical damage or liquid damage. The trade-in terms also address ownership verification, disabling security features such as Apple Find My, and ensuring the phone is not reported lost or stolen. See Xfinity’s trade-in guidance and the trade-in terms.

An online questionnaire is only an initial estimate. After Xfinity or its trade-in partner receives the device, it may be inspected and the value may be changed. Xfinity says customers receive email explaining a revised offer; save the original estimate so you can compare it.
Existing financing does not disappear
If the old phone is still covered by an Xfinity Device Payment Plan Agreement, Xfinity says you remain responsible for its remaining installments even after trading it in. For example, a $240 balance on the old phone is still owed separately from an $830 promotional credit on the new phone. Calculate the total account obligation, not just the advertised new-device payment.

How to claim a current offer safely
- Sign in first. Open the offer from your Xfinity account rather than relying on a generic advertisement.
- Open “Pricing & other info.” Save a PDF or screenshots showing every price, credit, plan, line, deadline and cancellation condition.
- Check the economics. Add service costs, taxes, fees, old-device installments and any amount of the new phone not covered by credits.
- Order only after confirming eligibility. Verify whether it is for a new line, an upgrade or a port-in, and enroll in the required device payment plan.
- Prepare the trade-in. Back it up, sign out of Apple ID or Google, disable Find My or equivalent locks, factory-reset it, remove SIM and memory cards, and record its condition and IMEI or serial number.
- Ship with evidence. Photograph every side, the display, ports and identifying number; package it securely; retain the label, tracking number and delivery confirmation.
- Monitor approval and billing. Check your Xfinity account and email for acceptance or an adjusted-value notice, then compare the first bills with the saved offer.
Xfinity says trade-ins can be completed online, by phone or at an Xfinity retail store, with qualifying transactions receiving monthly credits during the device-payment term. Details are in its trade-in process guide.

What if Xfinity reduces or rejects the trade-in?
The terms distinguish two programs. Under a Promotional Program, the specified promotional credit applies only when the device meets that promotion’s criteria; the terms do not provide an adjusted promotional offer. Under a Standard Program, the device can be reassessed and receive a different market-based value.
If there is a dispute, keep your condition photographs, IMEI record, quoted value, order documents, shipping receipt, tracking history, delivery confirmation and every Xfinity email. Contact Xfinity promptly and ask whether the decision came from Xfinity or its trade-in partner. Customer posts in Xfinity’s forum describe alleged damage findings, delayed credits and uncertainty about responsibility; these are anecdotal reports, not proof of a systematic problem. Examples include this trade-in dispute and this iPhone 15 complaint.

Potentially good fit
- You already want Xfinity Internet and would keep the required mobile plan for the full credit period.
- Your trade-in is paid off, fully functional and in the condition required by the offer.
- The documented credits cover most or all of the new phone’s cost.
- You value lower monthly payments more than the flexibility of buying unlocked.
Potentially poor fit
- You would switch to Xfinity only for the phone or may cancel soon.
- The required plan costs more than an alternative you would otherwise choose.
- Your old phone has cracks, liquid damage, missing parts or intermittent faults.
- The old device still has a substantial financing balance.
- You need an unlocked phone immediately or cannot tolerate a delayed-credit dispute.
- The offer disappears after signing in or its terms are not documented.
Alternatives to consider
Buy directly from Apple
Buying from Apple can provide an unlocked phone and avoids carrier promotional-credit conditions. Compare Apple’s current price and trade-in value with the net value of Xfinity’s credits.

Sell the old phone yourself
A private sale may produce more than a standard trade-in for an excellent device, but it adds listing, payment, shipping and fraud risk. Compare the cash you would actually keep—not an advertised asking price—with Xfinity’s documented credits.
Compare other carriers
If you are willing to switch, compare the required plan price, port-in rules, device lock period, credit duration, taxes and cancellation consequences. The advertised phone price alone is not an apples-to-apples comparison.
Bottom line
The Xfinity iPhone 15 offer was real in 2023, but it meant “free after qualifying promotional credits,” not a phone with no taxes, service cost or obligations. It is not shown as a current public offer on August 18, 2026. Proceed only when your signed-in account displays a current offer whose trade-in, plan, line, credit period and cancellation terms you have saved and can afford.
