If you transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards points to World of Hyatt, Chase’s published terms say the completed transfer is final: the points cannot be refunded and the transaction cannot be canceled. That rule is specific to Chase; check the terms of your card issuer if you transferred points from another program.
Can you cancel a Chase-to-Hyatt transfer that is still processing?
Chase says most transfers process by the next business day, though some can take up to seven business days. Its published guidance does not describe a cancellation window while a transfer is pending, so processing time should not be treated as time in which you can stop the transaction. Chase’s transfer guidance says transfers to travel partners are final, and the Sapphire Preferred Ultimate Rewards Program Agreement says transferred points cannot be refunded and the transaction cannot be canceled.
What should you do after an accidental or incorrect transfer?
- Check your Chase Ultimate Rewards activity to confirm the transfer was submitted and note its date, amount, and confirmation details.
- Check the World of Hyatt account you selected and confirm whether the points have arrived.
- If the transfer was unintended, duplicated, or appears to have a technical error, contact Chase using the number on your card and contact World of Hyatt support promptly. Have the transaction details ready. This is an escalation step, not a guaranteed exception to Chase’s published final-transfer terms.
Check the transfer rate and account details before confirming
The number of Hyatt points received depends on the applicable transfer ratio. Chase announced a 4:3 Ultimate Rewards-to-World of Hyatt ratio for specified cards. For Sapphire Preferred cardholders who applied before June 15, 2026, Chase said the new rate took effect October 1, 2026; applicants on or after June 15, 2026 received that rate immediately. Under the 4:3 ratio, 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points yield 750 World of Hyatt points. Eligibility and effective dates matter, so use the ratio displayed in your own transfer interface before confirming. Chase’s announcement describes the rate and timing.
- Chase requires transfers in 1,000-point increments.
- The account-name details must match between the Chase and travel-partner accounts.
- Chase recommends confirming award availability before transferring points.
Is canceling a Hyatt award booking the same as reversing the transfer?
No. Reversing a transfer would return points from Hyatt to the bank rewards program; canceling an award reservation concerns points already in a Hyatt account. Whether a canceled Hyatt stay returns points depends on Hyatt’s current award-cancellation and redeposit rules, which are separate from Chase’s transfer terms. Check Hyatt’s applicable rules for the reservation before canceling it.
