Chase points may transfer to airline programs and other hotel partners instead of Hyatt. Compare a real award, cash charges and transfer timing before committing.

If you don’t want to transfer points to World of Hyatt, the strongest alternatives on Chase’s published partner list include airline programs such as Air Canada Aeroplan, United MileagePlus and Southwest Rapid Rewards, plus hotel programs IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy and Wyndham Rewards. The right choice depends on the trip and the award you can actually book—not a general ranking of loyalty programs.

What can you transfer points to instead of Hyatt?

Chase’s educational partner list names ten airline programs and four hotel programs, including Hyatt. Other hotel options on that list are IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy and Wyndham Rewards. Airline alternatives include:

  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue
  • British Airways Club
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards
  • United MileagePlus
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

The Chase list is not a guarantee that every program is available to every account. Chase directs customers to check the eligible partners shown after signing in to the Ultimate Rewards portal. Its transfer guidance names Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve and Ink Business Preferred as cards that permit partner transfers. Confirm your own account’s access before planning around a partner. Chase’s partner overview was accessed October 3, 2026; partner rosters and eligibility can change.

How to choose an alternative for your trip

There is no universal winner over Hyatt. Compare the actual booking you want across these factors before moving points:

  • Trip fit: Decide whether you need a hotel room or a flight, and check the destination, travel dates and number of travelers.
  • Bookable award inventory: Search the partner’s live booking page for the exact stay or itinerary. A program is not useful for this transfer if the award you need is unavailable.
  • Total cost: Compare the points required and the taxes, fees or other cash charges shown at checkout. Then compare that award with the cash price of the same room or itinerary.
  • Transfer practicality: Check that your account is eligible, how transfers are processed and whether the points will arrive in time to book.

The official pages reviewed do not establish a universal cents-per-point value, current award-price comparison or transfer bonus for these alternatives. Without a destination, dates and live award search, it would be misleading to call any one program the best value.

Check the booking before transferring

  1. Search first. Find the award on the receiving airline’s or hotel program’s booking page and confirm that it is available for your dates and party size.
  2. Record the full price. Note the required points and any cash charges, and compare them with the cash price for the same booking.
  3. Verify your transfer route. In your logged-in Chase Ultimate Rewards account, check that the intended partner appears as eligible. Confirm the partner’s account requirements and current booking terms.
  4. Transfer only what you need. Chase says transfers are made in 1,000-point increments and are final. Its guidance says most process by the next business day, but a transfer may take up to seven business days; another Chase overview describes timing as several business days. Do not assume points will post instantly. See Chase’s transfer instructions, accessed October 3, 2026.
  5. Book with the partner. Once points post, redeem them through the receiving loyalty program, subject to that program’s terms.

Chase’s instruction is direct: “If you’re redeeming your points for an award ticket/stay, make sure the award is available.” The warning matters because points moved to a partner cannot simply be returned to Chase if the award disappears or the plans change.

What if your points are with American Express?

Amex also says eligible Membership Rewards customers can transfer points to participating airline or hotel programs, but that does not establish that its full partner roster matches Chase’s. Amex requires linked accounts; the cardholder’s name and the partner-account name must match, and transfers are final. Its guidance says to check availability and points required first, then verify the transfer and book directly through the receiving program. Once transferred, the partner’s terms govern the points. An Additional Card Member’s card must have been issued for at least 90 days before that member’s partner account can be linked, according to the Amex transfer FAQ accessed October 3, 2026.

When not to transfer

Keep points in the bank program while you are still comparing destinations, dates or loyalty programs. A transfer can make sense only when you have identified an eligible partner, found an award you can book, checked its full points-and-cash cost against the same booking’s cash price, and accepted the partner’s terms. If one of those checks is unresolved, waiting preserves your options.
