Facebook offers a Hide from Friends control for some Marketplace listings, but it is a limited visibility setting—not a promise that a listing is secret or that no friend can find it. Check the options for the specific listing before you publish, and remember that buyers may still see information on your Marketplace profile.
How to look for Hide from Friends
While creating or editing a Marketplace listing, inspect its audience or listing options for Hide from Friends. Meta documents a control by that name, but its Help Center page may require login, and the exact location and availability can vary by account, region, listing category, and app version. Use the controls shown in your own listing flow rather than relying on a fixed sequence of taps.
If you do not see the option, do not assume the listing is hidden from friends. The setting is not available for every listing, according to the available guidance.
Which listings may be eligible?
A current independent guide reports that Hide from Friends may be available for item listings but not for homes, apartments, or vehicles. That is secondary guidance, not a universal guarantee from Meta; check the editor for your particular listing before publishing.

What hiding a listing does—and does not—mean
The control is intended to reduce exposure to friends, but the available documentation does not establish that it prevents every route of discovery. In particular, it does not confirm whether a friend could still encounter a hidden listing through Marketplace search, a shared link, or another surface. Nor does the evidence establish a control for excluding one specific person while keeping a listing visible to other friends.
Do not treat the setting as equivalent to deleting a listing, blocking someone, or making a transaction anonymous. Meta says people may still encounter content about a blocked profile through mutual friends, and Marketplace ratings and reviews may remain visible to a seller who has been blocked. Blocking is therefore not a dependable substitute for checking the listing’s audience options.

Can buyers still see your seller profile?
Yes, a listing-level friend setting should not be confused with hiding your seller profile from all buyers. In a March 2026 announcement, Meta said buyers would see an overview at the top of a Marketplace profile, including how long the seller had been on Facebook and their number of friends, plus a summary of Marketplace activity such as listing history, item types, and seller ratings. That announcement describes buyer-facing profile information; it does not say that Hide from Friends removes it.

Before you publish: a privacy check
- Open the specific listing’s create or edit options and confirm whether Hide from Friends is available.
- Check that the option remains selected before publishing; do not infer eligibility from another category or a different listing.
- If you plan to share the listing to groups or elsewhere, avoid doing so unless you understand who can see that post. The available guidance does not establish how group sharing interacts with the friend-hiding setting.
- If you need guaranteed separation from your social circle, do not rely on this setting alone. The available evidence does not establish a universal per-person exclusion or complete Marketplace anonymity control.
