No—not through the XRP Ledger itself. The ledger does not use proof-of-work mining. SunnyMining advertised a separate, app-based XRP earning contract and a free trial offer in 2025, but its promotional releases do not independently verify payouts, returns, or the service’s current availability.
Does XRP have free mining?
No. The XRP Ledger uses a consensus process rather than proof-of-work mining. Its documentation describes consensus as an alternative to proof of work and says the ledger requires no mining: XRP Ledger: Consensus Principles and Rules and XRP Ledger overview. A mining rig therefore cannot mine XRP by participating in ledger validation.
When a third-party service uses terms such as “cloud mining” or “automated mining” for XRP, that language describes the service’s own product or marketing—not how the XRP Ledger creates or validates transactions. The two should not be confused.
What did SunnyMining offer?
June 2025: an advertised $15 trial contract
In a June 29, 2025 company-issued release, SunnyMining said new users could receive an XRP trial contract worth $15 and that earnings would settle automatically each day. A second SunnyMining release, dated July 13, 2025, described a mobile app, free hashrate upon registration, and XRP as one of several supported assets. Its instructions described registering, claiming promotional hashrate, and activating a contract. - Actual payout history, returns, or reliability
- Contract duration, detailed terms, or how earnings are calculated
- Fees, deposits, or minimum withdrawal amounts
- Who controls customer funds or how custody works
- Regulatory status or whether the offer is currently available
Those details matter before treating any “free” contract as a way to earn money. A trial credit is not the same as withdrawable XRP, and a stated daily settlement schedule does not by itself prove that funds can be withdrawn. The releases do not answer those questions, so no conclusion about the service’s safety or profitability is warranted from them alone.
What should you check before using a free contract?
If considering a hosted crypto-earning service, look for clear, independently verifiable answers to the service terms that determine whether advertised earnings have practical value:

- Whether the trial balance is promotional credit or XRP that can actually be withdrawn
- Any activation requirements, deposits, fees, contract period, and withdrawal threshold
- Who holds the assets and what happens if the service stops operating
- Evidence of completed withdrawals that can be checked independently—not just advertised rates or company statements
Do not send funds or share wallet credentials based solely on a “free” offer. The reviewed SunnyMining releases do not provide independent verification of these points.

No. Because XRP Ledger validation does not require proof-of-work mining, buying a mining rig would not make you an XRP validator or mine XRP on-ledger. SunnyMining described an app-based hosted service, not a need for customers to run XRP mining equipment. A 2025 Federal Register notice also describes XRP as not mined like bitcoin and ledger closure as occurring through consensus.
