Which search field are you changing?
Changing Chrome’s search engine affects searches entered in Chrome, not automatically every search box on your device. Choose the instructions for the surface where you search.
Android home-screen widget
A search widget is separate from Chrome’s address-bar setting. Google’s instructions are to add a search-engine app widget through the device’s Widgets picker. The available widget depends on the app and device. Google’s Android search-engine instructions

If the setting or provider is missing
- Confirm which app or search field handles the search; a browser setting will not necessarily change a home-screen widget.
- In Chrome or Edge, visit the provider’s website in the browser and check the available search-engine list again.
- Allow for regional restrictions: Firefox notes that some providers are regionally limited, and Google’s Pixel search-bar directions apply only in Japan and the EEA.
- Expect small differences in Android menus across manufacturers and software versions.
