Used supercars such as the Audi R8, Lotus Evora, Porsche 911, Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes-AMG GT, Nissan GT-R and Lamborghini Gallardo are candidates to investigate—not verified bargains. For a new car, Chevrolet lists the 2026 Corvette Stingray from $70,000, though “exotic” is a subjective label and the Corvette is better treated as a high-performance comparison than an undisputed exotic.
What counts as an exotic car?
There is no standardized definition in the sources reviewed. Here, “exotic” is an editorial label for a car whose design, marque or character sets it apart from ordinary performance cars. That distinction matters: a fast coupe is not automatically an exotic, and a model’s reputation does not prove that a particular example is available within budget.
Maserati calls the MC20 a “super sports car” and describes it as “THE FIRST-EVER EXOTIC RACE CAR FROM MASERATI.” Those phrases establish the brand’s positioning, not an under-$100,000 price. Likewise, BMW’s M4 Competition is a useful performance-car price comparison, but the available evidence does not substantiate calling it exotic.
What can you buy new for less than $100,000?
2026 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray: a performance benchmark
Chevrolet’s U.S. lineup, accessed October 8, 2026, lists the 2026 Corvette Stingray at a $70,000 starting price and an $89,090 “as shown” price. Chevrolet also claims up to 495 horsepower and an available 0-to-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Trim, destination, options, taxes and dealer pricing can change the amount a buyer pays. The Stingray is a compelling performance-car alternative under the headline budget, but whether it qualifies as exotic depends on the buyer’s definition. Chevrolet’s Corvette lineup.

BMW M4 Competition: another new-car comparison
BMW USA lists starting MSRPs of $86,400 for the M4 Competition Coupe and $91,500 for the M4 Competition xDrive Coupe, as of October 8, 2026. These prices place both within the nominal ceiling before buyer-specific costs, but they are comparisons for shoppers considering a new performance car—not verified exotic-car picks. Why the Corvette ZR1X is not a sub-$100,000 option
Chevrolet’s 2025 announcement set the 2026 Corvette ZR1X 1LZ coupe at $207,395 including a $1,995 destination freight charge. That manufacturer starting price is already well above this article’s ceiling; it excludes tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment, and the dealer sets the final price. It is a useful reminder that a dramatic model name or extreme performance does not make a car a budget fit. Chevrolet’s ZR1X announcement.

Which used models are worth investigating?
Several used models appear in secondary roundups as possible under-$100,000 supercar candidates: Maserati GranTurismo, early Mercedes-AMG GT, Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo, Nissan GT-R and Lamborghini Gallardo. A used 2014 Audi R8 and a 2021 Lotus Evora GT also appear in a Kelley Blue Book comparison result. These references identify cars to research; they do not establish current asking prices or prove that a suitable example is available below $100,000.
Road & Track’s 2025 roundup included the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman S. That shows editorial consideration in a past-year list, not a current price, transaction value or objective classification as exotic.

How to check whether a particular car fits your budget
- Find a specific example. Record its exact model year, trim, asking price, location, mileage and condition. A model name alone is not a price quote.
- Check title and accident history. Establish what the listing says about title status and prior damage, then confirm the details before committing.
- Get an independent inspection. For a high-performance used car, have a qualified specialist inspect the specific vehicle and identify immediate work. The asking price does not tell you what repairs it may need.
- Build the full purchase budget. Add applicable taxes and fees, transportation or shipping, inspection costs and an immediate-maintenance reserve to the advertised price. Keep that total—not just the listing price—under your own limit.
- Estimate ownership costs before purchase. Include fuel, insurance, depreciation, scheduled service, likely repairs, parts access and specialist availability. Kelley Blue Book’s cost-of-ownership framing explicitly includes fuel, insurance and depreciation; those factors can matter as much as the purchase price. Kelley Blue Book’s comparison page.
- Match the car to how you will use it. Consider whether you need a coupe or convertible, how much luggage room and visibility you need, whether you will drive it in poor weather, and whether its ride and service access suit your intended mileage. Verify these details for the exact model and year.
Why a list of ten would be misleading
The available evidence does not provide ten dated U.S. prices tied to specific years, trims, mileage and condition. It also does not establish comparable live listings or transaction prices for the used candidates. A list that labels ten models “under $100,000” without those details would turn possibilities into buying claims.

“What is the best used supercar under $100K?” is one phrasing surfaced in a secondary roundup, but that question does not answer which car is best for a particular buyer. The right choice depends on the exact example, full budget, ownership costs and intended use—not just the model’s badge.
